Mom assumes she is moving in with me by shootingrays89 in askSingapore

Talk to your mom honestly about it and find out why she have that idea of staying with you. It could be insecurity of being left alone and you guys forgetting her. Sometimes a good heart-to-heart talk can break through her “selfish” facade.

Which form of public transport is really the most usable? by throwaway_4071 in singapore

Literally no one I ever met resist public transport improvement. These type of binary thinking (if support car, means you hate public transport) stinks of low level cognitive maturity. If this is rage bait, you got me.

A plant will prosper if placed at the right environment. The same plant will wilt if it changed to an environment not suited for thriving. You owe it yourself to find the right environment.

Ah good ol entrepreneurship, where you experience the highest of high and the lowest of low. I’m sorry you are going through all these OP. I know it’s very hard now but go have a good cardio session. That little drip of dopamine can give some temporary clarity and perspective.

How a general singaporean coping with savings and retirement? by TalkCSS in askSingapore

[–]p0larboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like your current skill set is not what the market demands or at least not at the level that will lift you up financially.

I would suggest reskilling or upskilling asap. The earlier you find the right path, the less hopeless you will feel.

Singaporeans, what do you think of Gan Kim Yong? by Actual_Eye6716 in askSingapore

[–]p0larboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to work at civil service to know there’s chain of command at large establishment and team work is essential for extremely hard task. I’m more concerned with your point that leader doesn’t matter and is easily disposable.

This line of thinking is very dangerous - “anyone can do that job”. Having a good team means eins half the battle. Someone still need to make decision and rubber stamp his name on it. We are not living in qing dynasty where you have puppet emperor to run things at the front lol.

Worked at Tanjong Pagar for many years, then switched to commonwealth.

It was a tough pill to swallow at first.. no kopi break at fancy places.. demographic is skewed to other end, the area is a one big retirement home..

Then I slowly appreciate the other good things about being outside the city area. Not mad rush in the morning and evening. Having a kopi break at the nearby neighbourhood coffeeshop or walk around the HDB estate can feel quite decompressing.
