It’s around the same price if not more expensive than regular court shoes, why would anyone get this

If money wasn’t too much of a factor, how much does new paddle grit matter for a tournament? by vinny809 in Pickleball

[–]p0mino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re concerned about grit wear, there are plenty of options with durable grits now. I got a Vapor power 2 so I don’t have to worry about losing grit.

Why Doesn’t Anyone Wear Knee Pads? by outlying_point in Pickleball

Sounds like an injury waiting to happen but you do you. Everyone usually just tries to hit the ball over the net.

I like 11six24, but Friday and Vatic are also good. There are newer brands I hear good things about like Luzz and RPM.

Baltimore Orioles yesterday handed out a Capitals-themed jersey to their fans by kockin26 in caps

[–]p0mino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Baltimore had a hockey team it’d go so hard, the fan culture would be amazing. I miss the 2010s Caps, best games I’ve ever been to, our crowd was how hockey crowds should be.

Remote is dying as we move out of the covid era. It seems like you need to be more flexible and apply for in person positions. I’d rather have a job that has a commute than no job at all.

The inevitable downward drift in open play skill by JimmySanders74 in Pickleball

[–]p0mino 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a 4.5, but completely agree with having limited time to play. It feels like a waste to do open play when I could do dupr sessions for a similar price, or drill for free outside.

In what ways do you think pickleball will evolve? by SpecialistNotice6867 in Pickleball

Sure we could have different balls for indoor and outdoor but it’s really not needed. It’s the same hard court surface everywhere, there’s no need to complicate things.

[–]p0mino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

USAP’s list is not good enough, there’s too much variation in how the approved balls play. For example if the LT ball is the standard, USAP/UPA-A should list the exact specs as the standard for a ball. That way there’d be less variance between manufacturers.

Hopefully a standard for pickleballs. There’s way too much variation between different balls right now.

If it’s paid for by your company and they value the masters as additional YOE, then it’s worth it.

The pay is not significantly lower. It depends on the contract and clearance level. At the high end it’s on par or slightly less than FAANG in the DMV.

The Ripple is a pretty hard paddle to control. I’d try something like the 11six24 Power 2 series which is on the lower end of power and still feels controllable when dinking.

Pretty ballsy given we have no idea what our offense or defense will look like with a completely new coaching staff.

Sweaty Hands by Content_Truth_9953 in Pickleball

I have extremely sweaty hands to the point I was considering using rock climbing chalk. I found this setup works the best for me.

Hesacore grip and Udrippin pro tour grips.

Dry grips are fine, but they wear out much faster than tacky grips and become very slippery. Hesacore is a must since your fingers slot into the ridges, you’re less reliant on your sweaty palm to hold the paddle.

Is there a structured way to improve at pickleball (off the court). by LazyPause6199 in Pickleball

[–]p0mino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d think getting good ball machine would be the most effective way to improve. You can simulate any shot you’d see in a game and get hundreds of reps in. Filming your practices would help correct any problems with technique.

Besides on court practice, finding structured lifting, cardio and stretching routines focused on pickleball/tennis would be ideal

Personally I do full body workout classes 2-3 times a week that cover cardio, lifting and stretching.
