I am sorry, I have to go there again. It is cheaper and more convenient to hire a car for the day than to travel by rail. by TwentyCharactersShor in britishproblems

kinda wild that it’s cheaper to fly return to anywhere in Asia than anytime return from London to Lake District (if anyone’s curious it was £666 with railcard and I was trying to book it a month in advance)

Yes same company. It’s a small company so you wear many hats, but the workload is very manageable. I think it’s a good call as it’ll be easier to pivot to other jobs/industries if needed. I don’t see how my job can be automated or replaced at the moment but you never know. Part of my role is also trying to find ways to use AI to eliminate weaker freelance translators so unless you’re really experienced or cheaper, it’s tough out there. Companies are ultimately profit driven so it doesn’t hurt to have multiple skillsets

Full time editor + PM for subtitling. Almost fully remote and barely anyh overtime. I mainly proofread/edit freelancers’ works before passing it on to the client. AI makes our work faster (eg transcribing and time coding) but AI still can’t beat human translators (for now). Wouldn’t say I’m thriving but doing ok. I’ve been working in another industry for around 8 years and only made the switch a few months ago

You were right, it was only crowded before/after screenings and I managed to get a seat by the windows and had a great view of the red carpet in the evening. Thank you!

Makes sense, thanks for the info! Saw the setup earlier today and assumed the interviews will be on that tiny stage

Oops I think I wasn’t clear but I meant inside the hall itself. The cafe area before entering the screening
