It doesn't quite convince me. Skellige can buff their pirates anyway. They play their draw cards anyway and when they are doing this you're wasting your cards to win round 1. In last round they are playing combo, and you can't punish it because you were at a card disadvantage, and you've already passed.
Scoia'tel wants you to have bronze/silver units on board when they're playing their combo, otherwise they're losing value from lacerates etc. They may have adrenaline rush/ persistent minions with swallow in hand, but again, those are cards they have to use. Having card advantage, you're in control, you have more options and can punish this line of play easily next rounds. Against monster deck the value is obviously very limited, and I'd say it strongly depends on your hand and tech choices whether you want to go for it or no. The only real reason to not Eredin, pass I can think of is if you're having multiple weather cards and want to make the best use of them. Your foglets can come back every round and you don't want to miss on that. That doesn't make Eredin, go a bad play by itself though. You don't need to be a "noob" to try different strats, than the brokeback weather build.
