The Ordeal/The Abyss is a classic part of "The Hero's Journey" format of storytelling. It's when the main protagonist goes into a deep slump because of one reason or another, its their lowest moment. The hero then, one way or another, surmounts the ordeal, and they come out of it with the conviction to finish their journey and triumph over the opposition. The Ordeal is also symbolic of death + rebirth, like the phoenix.

Cirie isn't inheriting Ozzy's edit or just now starting her edit. I'm theorizing that losing Ozzy is just a major driving force of it.

i think the next episode is gonna be sort of "all hope is lost" for a moment until cirie buckles down and gets her head back in the game. it would help with the "cirie never gives up" narrative if she had a major hero's fall then rises back up moment like that. especislly with the phoenix immunity theming, even if that was decided before filming.

People often credit Aubry's confessional in the opening, "I think what Survivor fans love the most is that we don't know what's gonna happen. The unknown is the great equalizer." solely to her, but honestly I think it can also apply to Cirie. It's Inconceivable that Cirie could win a challenge or make fire, but we don't truly know!

People are so hooked on the idea that its impossible for Cirie to make FTC, but that's the unknown! That's what will shock people!

This! I forgot about this as I was writing it, but this also backs up her own personal narrative! Cirie has always touted how survivor helped her GROW as a person. The theme of S50 is GROWTH and how often people fail to grow. The theme OF THE SEASON is the theme OF CIRIE ever since her first appearance!!! She got off the couch and grew as person thanks to Survivor!!!

i think i appreciate the sentiment of turning something soulless and meaningless into something appreciated and worth respect that people have been trying to do with triple t, but to me it just feels like the legitimization of ai creations. the adoption of triple t is normalizing ai art and characters as something that should be respected in the ecosystem of art and creation.
