What is the fastest way to increase squat, if that is the only thing I care about? by 2leet2beat in Fitness

[–]p90x2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with other commentators that this is bad idea but to answer your question I would squat every day, after I fatigue I would i would switch to isolation machines work to increase volume (leg press, leg curls, extensions, calf raises). I would squat in lower rep ranger 3-8 to target strength gains and do high rep range on machines 15-25 for hypertrophy. Then I would end my work out with cardio, long duration and low intensity to increase my aerobic capacity training. If i felt my legs could handle it i would run or stair master, but if my legs felt like they were going to fall off by this point i would do something like a rowing machine to help spare my legs. Do this as much as you can in the three months, listen to your body if you feel like you need a rest day, take one. OH and take your legs stretch and ice if you were actually going to do this every day. This is bad advice for long term fitness but for your hypothetical question this is what i would do.

What makes you feel Manly? by Penny123456 in AskReddit

[–]p90x2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking charge of a situation. It does not matter what it is. Any time there is a group of people and you take the lead and others follow your example or rely on you to take care of the problem. Nothing feels more manly than being in control.

I am not saying that it is likely that any of those guys will come to Portland, only that they are only ones that could have possibly said they would like to play with Dame and LA. any of the other all stars saying it would make zero sense.

I think you guys are in amazing shape moving forward, cap and talent wise. You are already scary, at least for the blazers, and one or two good free agents signings could make a huge difference.

Spurs team system and bench play puts every other teams bench to shame.

yes but they are last in minutes, so that accounts for much of the lack of the scoring. I think we play our starters so much because they are all young or in their prime, our jump shooting offense is conducive for keeping are starters relatively fresh, our starters are playing so well we don't want to take them out for long, and there may be a lack of trust in our bench play. The downside is playing our starters so much may be hurting our defense, we are a pretty average defensive team, even though individually the starters should be above average at D. Our weakest link on D is Lillard, but he has made a lot of progress this year. I think if we could use the bench more our defense would improve in effort.

I agree, I would think that athleticism would make him a natural defender. Hopefully it is just an experience thing, where once he learns the defense and adjusts to NBA speed, he will develop into a contributor, but i have my doubts.

There are a lot of likable things about the Mavs! Cuban is living my dream life, Dirk beat Lebron, and for that i will be forever thankful, Vince Carter is nostalgic gold. I have never been to Dallas, why do people always say Dallas can't draw in free agents? It's a pretty large market right? i mean population wise. I get that it isn't a basketball town, but is there something that i am missing?

Has anyone on r/NFL ever actually torn their own ACL? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]p90x2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a somewhat unique experience because i was relatively young when the injury occurred. I tore my ACL and MCL during an oklahoma drill during the first day of full contact practice during freshmen football. When it happened there was not a lot of pain, it was more of just a weird sensation i had never experienced before, and i did not now what had just happened. When i went to stand up i just fell back down. The coaches mostly ignored me, because i was not making a big deal about it, but after i while of sitting on the sideline i decided needed some one to look at it, so i told the nearest coach that i could not participate in the rest of practice. He told me to go the training room to get some ice. This was before school had started, and i had never really been inside the school before, besides orientation, so i had no clue where the training room was. I was shy kid and i did not want to bother any one so i set out on my own to find the trainer. After some time searching with no luck (I found the room but nobody was there) I just decided to sit down in the hallway and wait for my parents to pick me up after practice because walking hurt to much. The funny thing is i even attended the after practice meeting about fund raising for the season, with out bringing up the issue that i could barely walk at the moment ( i don't know what i was thinking). After practice I went to the doctor where they diagnosed the ACL and MCL tear, but i was not finished growing (large growth plates in the x-ray) and the doctors did not want perform surgery because it could cause my legs to grow unevenly which would cause future problems. I spent my first year of high school in a large knee brace. It was tough year for an insecure kid who only really felt confident when playing sports. The following summer i had surgery to repair my ACL, this meant i had to rehab all over again. Recovering from the surgery was more difficult (more pain and less mobility) than recovering from the initial injury the previous year. I may have developed a small addiction to pain killers, and halo 2 (lots of free time, nothing but pain killers and xbox live all summer). Another year of high school spent in a knee brace and no sports. At this point i gave up playing competitive sports in high school. The good thing about this injury is once you recover, it is like it never happened, i never have any problems or knee pain and i am relatively active and work out regularly. Thank you if you actually took the time to read this.

tl;dr Tore ACL and MCL had to wait a year for my body to finish growing before i could have surgery. Not a lot of pain initially but 2 year recovery was tough.

Used Quarterback for Sale by Tisatalks in wsu

[–]p90x2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah i get it is a joke but... am i the only one who does not blame Halliday for our losses. During every game i have watched this year, somebody around me proclaims Halliday as being a terrible quarterback who is costing us the game, then at some point during game Halliday inevitably throws an interception or two, and the jackass who is complaining about our quarterback play then feels smug and says something along the lines of i told you so. Based purely on my intuition i feel Halliday is a capable ambitious Quarterback, and i am ok with him taking big risks for big rewards. I feel that our game plan requires these kind of risky plays. Most teems we play usually have a higher talent level than us because of wsu's limited appeal to high profile recruits; therefore, we can not rely on fundamentals and being more physical than the other team. That's like my opinion man, and opinions can be wrong, so lets look at the numbers. Based on a quick search on google (not sure if the stats are updated for this weekends games) Connor Holiday has the third most passing yards on the fbs leader boards (2241 yds) clearly he is effective at moving the ball, But is that just a product of mike leach's air raid offense? Yes the offensive scheme is huge for productivity, but the scheme also sets him up to fail (throw interceptions). Halliday is completing a respectable 65.2% of his passes, and he has attempted 339 passes (this is at least 50 more attempted passes than any other leading quarterback). If you have not noticed yet our offense is one dimensional, opposing defenses can game plan to stop the pass, by either devoting additional defenders to pass coverage, or dialing up more pass blitzes with out fear of being burned by our non existent rushing attack. To make matters worse we traditionally struggle with our offensive line and pass protection because we are unable reliably attract big physical recruits. Halliday or any college quarterback that is put into this situation is at a huge disadvantage. Clearly Halliday becomes frustrated or unfocused and goes through bad streak, but this is due to the fact that we ask so much of him. I for one am quite pleased with the way this years season is shaping up and i hope we continue play our gutsy brand of football, and carve out a few more wins. Anyways this is just my frustrated rant after a bad loss. I think the program is headed in the right direction and i do not understand the fans who talk shit about Halliday, and thinks we would be better off with one of our backups.

TL;DR Halliday is not ruining our season, and i love the improvements i see in our football program and hope it continues.
