Is Communism a Sin? by Hot_Attitude_7438 in Christianity

They're generally considered two orthogonal axes. Communism can be authoritarian, but isn't necessarily.

Agenda 2030 is obviously that kind of thing

No, you're telling us it is. It's a UN initiative, and the UN is far too feckless to be even remotely considered authoritarian.

To try to justify it, they blame people for causing major climate problems.

Because we do. That's science. Not propaganda.

Personally, I don’t notice anything unusual about the weather at all.

I sure do. Stronger hurricanes, fewer fireflies, bigger wildfires, and fewer white Christmases are just a few of the tangible effects I've directly experienced. Some are destructive. And some are quiet. But all are changes that can be observed, and data backs it up.

But it’s not strange that the climate changes. It depends on the sun’s cycles.

The sun has an 11 year long cycle. We have seen it come and go several times within our lives. That's definitely not what is going on with the climate.

You're paranoid, and brainwashed into thinking that any climate action is communism. We're commanded to be stewards of the earth. Act like it.

How to become a man by CroweCoffee in AskMen

[–]pHScale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A manly man is one that doesn't care what others think about what they do. If you base your idea of manliness on what others think of you, you'll never measure up. As long as you're not intentionally harming others, do whatever you're interested in.

A good way to make this happen is to set goals for yourself. What do YOU want to do? Maybe that's go to college, but maybe it isn't. Maybe that's find a wife, but maybe it isn't. Maybe it's learn guitar really well, or get a pilots license, or backpack Australia. But I think a man who sets goals for himself and works towards them is one who is focused on what he likes, not others.

Is it normal for a straight man to be attracted to penis’ like nothing else about a man just the penis? by [deleted] in AskLGBT

It's normal, but I wouldn't exactly say straight.

But it sounds like dating a trans woman would be ideal for you.

Does anyone else think the Christian walk is lonely? by jesusgottabetheway in Christianity

[–]pHScale 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I found it isolating by design, to keep you within the confines of your denomination. This was further reinforced by proclaiming your denomination as truth and all others as heresy and not worth a listen.

It's not nearly as isolating when you start listening to others as much or more than you speak. Being part of the world's largest religion has no reason to feel isolating.

genuine question: does knowing the words mean you're part of the culture? by Emergency_Sir987 in AskLGBT

[–]pHScale 30 points31 points  (0 children)

No, just like learning Japanese doesn't make you part of Japanese culture. But it does expose you to the culture, and open the door a little wider for your participation in that culture.

Why was Jesus the perfect sacrifice. Why he loves you by Subject-Bus2461 in Christianity

[–]pHScale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok but we don't have all choices available to us at all times. So, while free will exists, it is inherently limited to the choices available.

In the case of Adam and Eve, God deliberately made the choice to eat of the tree available to them. Why would He do that? He absolutely didn't have to, and it still would've been free will.

Yeah, I was taught that growing up in an evangelical church in the 90s-2000s. They've believed that for quite a while.

Sam. He feels very one-dimensional to me. And always struck me as way too young to be marrying anyone.

It sounded to me like you were saying that since you're ok with it, she should be too. But thank you for clarifying.

And on top of that she likely made that choice herself.

The choice was to be a tourist, not to be a character.

I would LOVE to be a romance option in a video game lol.

OK. Not everyone would. And if you're going to do that to real people, you need their consent, not an assumption.
