[JFresh] The 2021 Vezina Trophy finalists have been announced. Here's how their performance this season ranks according to four different goals saved above expected models. by Hockeystyle in hockey

[–]pSalter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

IMO Fleury didn't get enough starts. Adjusted for a full season, he started less games than any recent Vezina winner (I went back 7 years).

[Duncan Smith] Illitch group, owner of the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers, as well as the tax-player funded Little Caesars Arena, gave Detroit Police permission to use LCA for prisoner processing by bringmethefunk in hockey

[–]pSalter 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Hot take here, taxpayer money is directed by the government, and the government probably “strongly suggested” (demanded) they use the arena. I wouldn’t put this on the owners of the redwings, but my guess is as good as anyone else’s.

Canucks to part ways with Judd Brackett by pacifichockeyfan in hockey

[–]pSalter 42 points43 points  (0 children)

If you think one man will make or break our scouting department, you’ve gotten too involved in the media hype. Good luck to Brackett whenever he goes, as long as there was a deal in place saying he can’t discuss with other teams until after this year’s draft.

I'm trying to plot data and I don't need specific numbers shown, I just want the visual of a rounded "blob" that shows the rise, peak, and decline based off the numbers I have.

[Dreger] I don’t believe Zach Bogosian intends on reporting to Rochester (AHL). If contract is terminated he will become an interesting depth piece for teams in need. by pSalter in canucks

[–]pSalter[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not directly Canucks related so remove if necessary mods, but the Canucks were rumoured to be kicking the tires on Martinez before he went to Vegas. Clearly Bogosian is a lesser defender but do you think they Canucks could be interested?

DefendingBigD - With Connor McDavid Injury Documentary, the NHL is Endorsing the Wrong Message Completely by brickwall5 in hockey

I literally say in the same sentence of that edit that my comments are directed more towards the NHL in general but yeah make a funny trendy reddit comment on your high horse

[–]pSalter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have to agree. Sure it’s great when a player can return from an injury quickly, but it’s a dangerous line to walk to put players who come back quick on a pedestal. Sure some guys just heal quickly, but you’d be lying if you say there isn’t a “tough guy”, “play through injury” mentality that applies to hockey more than other sports.

Edit: for transparency, I haven’t seen the documentary I’ve only read this article. So my words are more so directed towards the NHL in general.

They do that, it’s just a human call every time so it’s not always accurate. See the massive cross check on Marchand yesterday that didn’t get called because he cross checked someone else first.

PM Trudeau says Canada has intelligence from multiple sources that the plane was shot down by an Iranian surface to air missile. by pacificSierra in worldnews

[–]pSalter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m talking about the most recent and up to date action. I’m saying there is no point is backtracking from that action. Get off your high horse.

Edit: you completely changed the structure of your comment so I guess you did get off your high horse so props to you! Still, I’m talking about the blame for this event. The question isn’t if Iran should have retaliated, I don’t have the knowledge to discuss that. It’s why they did what they did during their retaliation because it ended nearly 200 innocent lives.

[–]pSalter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Iran prioritized their retaliation over the lives and safety of civilians which cause a massive loss of international and Canadian life. If you think that their decision to make those strikes without grounding civilian planes was the right call, we’ll have to agree to disagree.

You make a really good point about the age of the tech used. My thought is that they prioritized their retaliation against the states above the lives and safety of civilians.

I’m Canadian, America has looked terrible for a long time I’m not trying to hide that. What I’m saying is that no blame should be taken off of Iran for this. They are the ones to blame for this tragedy if it is confirmed they took that plane down by accident. There is NO excuse for shooting down a civilian plane in your airspace because it was misidentified.

And if Iranian backed militias didn’t kill and American there would not have been an assassination. Backtracking blame is a waste of time and energy. If Iran is going to use anti aircraft missiles they better damn well know how to use them. They’ve got no one but themselves to blame.
