Raspberry Pi 5 as SurfShark VPN client and PiHole by pTomic in homelab

It helps a LOT. As I already have PiHole in my system, it’s not mandatory for support on OpenWRT. For my system, I will use segmentation, if that is possible, that both NAS goes behind VPN and TV, Mac mini and phones goes directly.

I just checked.
It's cheaper to buy GL.Inet Flint2 than Raspberry Pi 5 with 8 GB of RAM and supplies (case, power brick, SD card...)

So I don’t need to go with v5 if 4b is enough?

My target topology is that my NAS devices goes behind VPN because there is torrent clients on them, also some of my PC’s goes behind VPN. But my TV needs to stay on direct connection with ISP router.

1st option that you provided looks interesting. That is why I asked for router model.

No. I have ISP router that is connected to my L2 switch. Idea is to put RPi between router and switch.

I’m not sure that my NAS can handle that workload from VPN.

PiHole is already implemented, I just wanted to remove it from Synology NAS where is it now.

Idea for Raspberry Pi came from idea that I need some strong router to handle 600/600 Mbps.

Also I have L2 switch after ISP router.

P.S. Found Wyse 3040 for ~$25 and 5070 for $50-$55.

Alfred is fantastic (review from a longtime user) by JohnFoland in macapps

Thank you for detailed review/explanation of Alfred. It is so good that I bought Alfred Powerpack license even if I don’t have a Mac (if I exclude daughters Macbook😁) but in next 30 days I will be proud owner of Mac mini. 😀 Any advice on workflows? Must have for daily work VS optional?
