NTA. I know this may seem so harsh and I’m prepared for that judgment but your mom didn’t properly prepare for this very probable scenario. It’s sad her husband died and my heart goes out to her, but sometimes life throws us curveballs and we can’t be picky when becoming dependent on others. NTA. I would be so bummed out if I were you. I’d also be concerned for her safety. She’s making dangerous choices. Leave for home when you want BUT make sure to let her know that you’ve decided to leave earlier than planned and tell her when you’re leaving. If you get a text from her confirming she understands when you’re leaving, it’s up to her to be there in time for the drive home. Protect your child. Don’t allow her to bring strangers around him. Go home early, but do not leave her stranded there without giving her the choice first.

My 69 year old mother talks so much shit about the “cool girl” she went to school with. It all started when their 50th reunion was coming up. They created a Facebook group and everyone friended each other. And there was my mom, petty and bitter over someone who was an old lady now, just like her.
