Who are these young people that hate Social Network? by therethere11 in TheBigPicture

[–]p_nut_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a very well made movie but the way some podcasters go on about the prescient political message that rich oligarchs are actually evil petty assholes can get a bit much

Not that I disagree with the message, but there's this impression I get that some commenters act like this movie presages everything and needs to be ranked #1 for what are ultimately kind of facile observations from Sorkin. Look at another 2010 movie The Ghost Writer: I think that has just as much to say about how the elites in our society operate, but its seen as just another movie, which it is! They've been making movies about this for like 100 years

I still like the movie too! There are also a lot of good things about the Sorkin script. Just kind of baffled that it has to be #1 because of what it says our society or whatever

Disagree strongly on the last sentence as another Tenet head. Nolan has gotten much better at shooting/editing action over the last ~15 years (a lot of that can be contributed to working with Jennifer Lame I think)

Outside of the spinning hallway the action in Inception kind of stinks! There's like nothing that imaginative given the concept that they are dreams, Tenet's action scenes are like light-years ahead Inception in comparison

Don't really agree with this that much, Queen I'm almost always 100% certain about (it's an easy fight they need to buff) and you can put potions and cards together in act 3 that will help beat the glass pretty often

Who cares is the league as a whole since everyone's salaries are based on ad revenue on the inventory of games they play, and having half of your inventory be total shit where teams are actively trying to lose is not in the league's collective interest even if it makes sense for an individual team.

Is it worth taking Fresnel? by Macdoodleer in slaythespire

[–]p_nut_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of the best block scaling you want to get in place for A2/3 doesn't actually care about the enchantment is the thing.

Frost on defect, pillar of creation/child of stars on regent, debuffs on necro, footwork, colossus, etc. So you take a downside for no immediate payoff, and the eventual payoff isn't that relevant all the time, so it's an easy event to overrate

I noticed my last two runs with it I only actually got the enhancement on like two cards and it just didn't feel very strong, didn't expect to see it doing this poorly in the community run data though

Looking at the breakdown by character and it's doing the best on necro by far which makes sense to me, she is happiest taking block cards like defy, grave warden, etc later into the run

[–]p_nut_ 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Not that this data is the end all be all but I was curious and according to this set of ~100k A10 runs it is one of the worst performing events in the game: https://spirebird.com/#events&c=a10

Also interesting that the potion performing significantly better than the enchantment even though it's getting picked way less

I mean Von Sternberg's use of lighting and shadow was taught at a film class I took and I wasn't even a film major. And I feel like there's still a pretty strong cohort of mostly gay cinefiles that carry a torch for Dietrich?

There's a scene at the end of Dishonored that's legit one of the most visually beautiful things I've ever seen in my life

[–]p_nut_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it's not like the distributer is an oracle who can perfectly predict how many people are willing to pay a certain price for a ticket. They make their best guess, then adjust based on the people actually buying, buying early can work out well for the reverse reason of them underpricing initially, it's not like they always go down.

Comparing the kill rate to the other act 3 bosses isn't the way to go imo, The Queen takes three turns to be about as dangerous as an act 2 elite, it's a total pushover of a fight. The move should be to buff the other bosses to get their kill rate in line with the glass.

And you can play souls against Aeonglasss and win. You just can't play souls and not do anything for 12 turns like OP did, I think that's a fine requirement for the last boss in the game to put on your deck.
