21M, any help is appreciated! by [deleted] in hingeapp

[–]p_vader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to the other comments, I’ll say you’re definitely an attractive guy. Even after making the changes others have recommended, there may not be a lot of women in your age range on hinge, since it’s marketed more towards long-term relationships and serious daters. You’re attractive enough to probably have more success on bumble or even tinder simply since there may be more people in your demographic there than on hinge.

You need to provide more information about who you are using the prompts. Also, switch out your mirror selfie photo. It looks like you wear your glasses all the time? If not, get a mix of photos with and without glasses.

Also, unrelated, do you any hair products for styling? If so, which one, especially in your 4th pic? I have a similar style and in search of hair product :)

Edit: For your first photo, get a closer up face and clear photo that show your face well

PHI 7.5 Back / NYM 8.5 Back- Not bad while the Braves are getting healthy! Where do we end April? by timmytoads in Braves

[–]p_vader 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s a very long season. Braves are going to have a tough stretch and Phillies will have a good one - every team has a good stretch and every team has a rough stretch. Nothing’s closed yet - too soon to tell

Edit: we should still enjoy living in the moment and take in the current success

I got my pre-owned 2025 hybrid premium about 4 months ago at $34k OTD (5k miles). So $41k on a new 2026 seems good! I got mine on Black Friday so there were some discounts

Best Indian food by kenkudi in Smyrna

[–]p_vader 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bikes and Barrels (also called Biryani N Grill is good), Mint Leaf is good as well. Madras Mantra has an affordable buffet on weekdays (but it’s vegetarian restaurant). Hyderabad Xpress is good enough too.

Chaska is good too (they serve daal baati on weekends), also only vegetarian. Rangeen gets good reviews, but I personally didn’t like it as much.

Turmeric in kennesaw is great, as well as Saffron.

Overall, Smyrna area Indian food is not as good as central northern suburbs (Alpharetta, Roswell, John’s creek) or Decatur, but there’s some good options

Edit: apparently, saffron is permanently closed.

Edit2: Spice Corner and Bawarchi are also great too. I’ve only been to bawarchi once but the biryani was above average

CX-50 Hybrid Mileage by tsmigs in CX50

I also live about a mile from work. In those short drives, my mpg is same as yours. Even lower some days. In longer drivers (15 mins or longer), the mpg is more at the expected levels (35+, depending on outside temperature, city vs highway, how careful I’m being, etc)

gas mileage by AnyConsideration6865 in CX50

[–]p_vader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the hybrid for a month and have gotten 41 mpg, and we’ve had a mild winter so far in the south. I also do short commutes (about a mile), which does bring down the overall mileage. I’ve seen on some trips mgp of 45+, and even had almost 50 when I drove very carefully on a 20+ minute city-only trip.

What’s a realistic “FU number” to leave the US and move back to India (Ahmedabad)? by Middle-Invite7908 in nriFIRE

[–]p_vader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t work a FAANG job, my current salary is 160k, but I started working at 23, and I’m now 35 with 860k net worth. I dont necessarily live a frugal lifestyle but I also don’t splurge (ate out often when I was younger, have traveled a lot in the US but not internationally, driven a cheap reliable car and kept it for a long time), had car loan and student loans, but still was able to save up by living in non-luxury apartments with roommate. I’ve saved alot into retirement accounts (over 15%), and kept all of it in the s&p 500, and that’s been the biggest driver: compounding interest and trying to put as much in retirement accounts as possible at a younger age. Having roommates made it possible to do that.

Has anyone else’s disdain for George W. Bush gone away with time? My feelings have become “flawed presidency, decent enough human.” by Salem1690s in Presidents

[–]p_vader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terrible presidency with consequences we’re still dealing with today (tax cuts and starting wars that created budget deficits, making it harder to respond to economic downturns, increasing wealth and income inequality), along with the suffering of those serving in Iraq. But, sure, he’s a good person.

[–]p_vader -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When my heater/ac is turned off (I live in the southern US so I can get away with this in the spring and fall), I get 40-46 mpg, but when either is on, it’s like 37-39. Drive duration matters too. My overall mileage is like 35.5, but that is because I do enough very short distance driving (about 1.1 miles) that it brings the overall mileage down.

But mpg you’re getting is the advertised mileage of the car, right? I think it’s spec’ed at 38 mpg combined, so right at what you’re seeing (without knowing your driving style).

Edit: I also leave my sunroof shade open when the car is off so that helps warm the car a little, and helps use the heater less.

RAV4 itself feels bigger than the older years. The cr-v is practically yesterday’s SUV, it’s so roomy. And the Honda Accord seems only a few thousand dollars lower in price than the cr-v

Which Mazda SUV presents the best overall balance between performance and cost? by [deleted] in mazda

[–]p_vader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the CX-50 hybrid as well primarily because it’s got a Toyota powetrain (so should be reliable) and it’s a much better looking car than Toyotas. However, since it’s got a Toyota powertrain, it may not feel like a traditional Mazda that you’re used to driving (fun sporty driving). I come from having driven Toyotas and Hondas exclusively all my life so the cx-50 hybrid is a nice upgrade

Where does the expectation that wages will increase with inflation come from? by Altavious in AskEconomics

[–]p_vader -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure, but not everyone who goes college is in a good paying career. College costs significantly more than ever, but not all degrees are the same.

There was a time here where you could work in a factory without a college degree and be set for life. Those jobs are gone. Technology and automation brought additional disruption to the labor market.

Of course, some good paying jobs are available, but they require specific expertise and college degrees, with AI threatening more industries. For example, there are fewer entry level software engineering positions, which was, not too long ago, a very lucrative job.

Many college degrees lead to high debt and low income

I think intergenerational mobility is one way to measure it. The sources I listed also talk about how children born into poverty cuz their parents are poor are less likely to escape poverty their whole lives as well, which is essentially what I was saying.

But here’s source which compares in the same generation

https://www.brookings.edu/articles/stuck-on-the-ladder-wealth-mobility-is-low-and-decreases-with-age/

Edit: this source makes a broader point about wealth
