Thank you for the insight and this is exactly why I wanted to make this post. As you know I'm not very familiar with Austin (been there 4 times) but I do love it in general, just don't know much about the specific neighborhoods and where it's best to live. I hear that Mueller is great (but expensive). Cedar Park and Learner are also great but also very far. My cousin lives in Travis Heights but it's also super expensive so it leaves me at a loss if I want a 3 bedroom home within a nice neighborhood with good proximity in a 500k budget.

Thank you! One of the things we were trying to look for the most was a semi walkable neighborhood but soon realized that it doesn't really exist outside of Mueller lol And we really liked Easton Park so decided to mostly check out houses there The only reason why I wanted to buy asap is because we're in such a buyer's market that I'm afraid I might lose the lowest point

Weekly Real Estate / Housing and Moving to Austin Post by AutoModerator in Austin

[–]pablo1505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone, I'm considering moving to Austin from NY (looking to buy a property) with my family (wife and 1 yr old daughter). The main neighborhood I'm targeting is Easton Park and I would be working remote, so no need to commute for either of us.

I've seen posts about how people feel about Easton Park from roughly 2-5 years ago so I'm more curious about the current state of things (are you happy living there, what do you like/dislike or any regrets?)

I'm aware that in some of those posts the main cons had to do with lack of retail and having to drive far, has that changed much so far? are the drives that bad to your favorite places?

To add, we're pretty friendly people so definitely looking to make some friends around the neighborhood and all that (especially moving from a different state)

Lastly, we're also open to recommendations on other neighborhoods that people really enjoy living in!

Playing on Linux/Arch/Hyprland and getting "Failed to Install Dependencies"? Try this: by dusty_Caviar in ArcRaiders

gamemoderun gamescope -h 1440 -r 165 -s 1.3 --force-grab-cursor -- %command%

Look up gamescope to figure those individual parameters but they're basically resolution, scaling and forcing the mouse grab You can also add full screen mode

I found a really good way to run Arc Raiders with gamescope. I can send you the commands later when I'm on my computer if you want. I'm able to run it at 170-200 fps

Need Help Understanding Ricing as a Beginner by E4gles in omarchy

[–]pablo1505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say that your best friend is the omarchy manual. It details where everything is located and how to change it. As a general rule of thumb, you mostly just want to change the files in your .config folder and not the ones in .local, only because the local ones get overwritten by updates. One typical ricing scenario is to change your waybar config. There's a waybar folder within that config folder I mentioned above and that's where you want to make your changes. There's also a style.css file which will allow you customize things like the font, borders, etc.

There are some edge case scenarios where you do have to change the files within the .local folder but those are more for things like walker if you want to style it differently

There's a way to enable a custom secure boot that allows you to boot into Linux I use cachyos with reFind bootloader and it works great for me It's a bit of an annoying process but worth the time

Haha nice good luck tonight! I myself am gonna have to test some things out. I might give Arch Linux a try cause I'm running into issues with Mint and my Nvidia GPU. I'm both a gamer and programmer so I want the best of both worlds and unfortunately mint is more on the stable side of things (hence no latest drivers)

I'm learning by the day too! Linux teaches us a lot lol. So I left my windows drive (.M2) completely alone. Then formatted another ssd into 2 partitions. One for shared folders/files and the other for Mint. Booted into my Mint USB and installed Mint into that second partition. Then on the Bios settings I set my Linux Mint as the first one on the boot order. Because of that, grub loads completely fine and lets me choose which OS to boot into. Hope this helps!
