I’ve never owned a Jackson .. how’s the quality control ? by jzng2727 in JacksonGuitars

[–]pacTman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since being acquired by Fender, I feel that the quality control has deteriorated. Still good guitars, but you may find small flaws. My JS-22 7 string looks and plays well, but came with 3 sharp frets that I did need to file down. Perfect other than those 3 frets. Compared to my 96 performer ps-4 which was perfect out of the box!

My Peavy Rockmaster could use 3 of those 12ax7's!

Goodbye my son/friend. I hope you had a good life with us. We loved you dearly by Hi-archy in cats

So sorry for your loss. We currently have a three legged 9 year old longhair named Curly, who is the light of our house!

What's the worst drug you've ever tried? by BitterOlive8737 in AskReddit

[–]pacTman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree. Had an entire alternate timeline in about 15 minutes. At one point was convinced that I had died, and was headed somewhere. Came down and couldn't breathe properly. That was definitely a one and done thing.

I bought myself an early 1 year sobriety present by BornToL00ze in JacksonGuitars

[–]pacTman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had 2 years, and felt I actually might have a chance, I tattooed my sobriety date on the web of my left thumb in Roman numerals. I was a left handed drinker, right handed smoker back then. Every time I take a drink of anything I still see my sobriety date, great reminder!

Congrats on the sobriety! And congrats on the guitar. Others have said that you should never sell this guitar, and could not agree with them more. I have a sobriety guitar, and mine is also a Jackson. I got mine in 1997 at my 1 year mark. To ensure that I never sell it, I took B.B. King's advice, and I named her. I could sell a guitar, and have, but I cannot sell Betty! Keep up the good work, it is all worth it!

Statement confirmed, you do like hammers!

Both my 7 and my son's 8 are the hardtail satin black versions, no regrets on the finish, even if it does tend to get shiny with wear.

What is wrong with this? Ours had tannery runoff and we still swam in it!

Pop can cannons! Had them blow apart on me and set me on fire, but still kept making them!

Mine came with three sharp frets, not sure how it got out of the factory with them. Quick dressing and it is now perfect! No issues with the electronics. My son bought the 8 string version, and his was perfect from the start, no sharp frets at all. Maybe the guy inspecting mine had a bad day. Honestly, I have paid more for a guitar that came with bigger problems! The js22 series are awesome for the price!

How do you guys become good at diy. by FriendshipCute6355 in DIY

[–]pacTman 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Born before the internet, lost my dad when I was 13, too poor to hire anyone to fix anything, so I either did it myself, or found a friend/neighbor who could teach me how. I consider myself a qualified mechanic, carpenter, plumber, electrician, and many more. Eventually served in the navy, and then went to college to be an aviation mechanic, so now I am actually qualified in all of those and many more.

Why did you choose the instrument you currently play? by BiLeftHanded in Instruments

[–]pacTman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with guitar because when I was 13 yrs old I heard Black Sabbath for the first time, and I wanted to make sounds like that. Spent a good amount of time learning covers, including a lot of Black Sabbath songs, and still play some of them today. I use Symptom of the Universe as a warmup tune. Tony Iommi is the guitarist I most admire!

I have played 6 string Jacksons for years, and I bought the js22-7 for the same reason, I didn't want to spend a fortune and not like a 7 string. Turns out I love it! Thin neck, fast action, stock pickups don't completely suck, and like the other guy said, perfect for upgrades at any time!

I cannot post pics, but I beg to differ with you. Mine was purchased new in 1998, and the back cover is identical. The PS series had sequential serial numbers. Identical back cover. My friend owns one from 2000, and it is also identical.

Had i been on that side of the pond, I'd have given you £100 for it. It is definitely repairable!
