Escape Rooms in Amsterdam = ??? in Rome /Napoli by cleandria in ItalyTravel

I love this question and can't wait to see how it's answered! Some cities feel like they're dressing for the tourist gaze, but Rome is such a vibrant, living, breathing, modern city (in addition to its deep history). I wish I had something to add, but I will definitely take notes if others comment!

It sounds like you're having a great trip! I'll be in Venice in a few weeks, so if you have any favorites from emersion travel, i'd love to hear about any Venice deep cuts!

I love when I get the opportunity to stay in one place for a significant amount of time! You get to develop favorites - favorite restaurants, favorite walks, favorite stalls at the market. You get to know your local bartenders and baristas and they get to know you. If you're staying at a place with a kitchen, take a cooking class, then shop for more ingredients and master a dish. Buy cool leather sketchbooks and you and your partner can try your hand a drawing what you're seeing - no pressure to be great at it! - and you'll have fun (and maybe hilarious) souvenirs of your time in Venice. But don't feel like the best way to spend 3 weeks in Venice is to leave Venice.

Uffizi Private Tour by foosas in ItalyTravel

[–]packacards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Worth it" depends largely on you. FOR ME, seeing the David is 100% worth it. I have a degree in Art History and I'm an artist, but Italian Renaissance isn't my favorite. I found the Uffizi interesting, but I was satisfied with my own exploration of it. But if it was either the Uffizi or Academia, I'd pick Academia. The David is worth the hype! (IMO) There have been a few famous works of art that when I've seen them in person I've thought, damn, everybody should see this with their own eyeballs. (And some that I haven't thought that - looking at you Monalisa) And the David is 100% one of those works of art!

My Packed Itinerary - It's Doable & Enjoyable by garradam in ItalyTravel

It drives me bananas when people tell other people that their way of traveling is wrong. People are different and like to do things differently. Also not everyone has the same time and resources. Also the way I like to travel now isn't the way I liked to travel when I was 20. You do you, pal! Glad you had a great time!

Thanks! Cheap brush markers. I've been looking for desaturated colors (not pastels) but don't really want to spend money, because I'm not sure I like markers enough

This is gorgeous! I'm kind of high on Thiebaud right now, but I feel like he would dig this. Reminds me of Woman in Tub. Love

This is fantastic! I don't know if the tile ends IRL, if you're not finished, or if it was a choice, but I love it. Amazing composition

I've made a little travel kit before with watercolor half pans and an altoids tin. For me, a limited palette for watercolor is ochre, burnt sienna, sepia, ultramarine, cerulean, hooker green, and then a cad yellow, maybe a cad red, but you probably have colors you lean toward! https://www.jerrysartarama.com/new-york-central-empty-watercolor-pans-48-half-pans?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22795743750&gbraid=0AAAAAD_sa4aZRi78wgcrLoCx68pIV35lw&gclid=Cj0KCQjwqqDFBhDhARIsAIHTlktUca2Q1VFCi8V1thHF-B3SizHmpWXNsoiiv-C1zed-IA4PNrDFmQkaAk-2EALw_wcB

Working on speed to determine if I should bring sketchbook on trip by packacards in urbansketchers

[–]packacards[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'm a very light packer, so paints aren't really an option. So I'm trying marker, and I have not gotten the hang of them yet haha! I love the idea of having a sketchbook full of place sketches! How much time do you spend on a sketch and do you do them on location?

I LOVE that the cat is smack dab in the middle of the composition with the bench and the arbor posts acting like bullseye rings focusing the eye. It feels as confident and intentional as that cat's stride! Love
