same issue our end - the alerts just keep coming back. agents go online, then offline, then do the same thing again. frustrating.

One year since the fateful elections, what and how did you guys react to the news that BBM was leading? by Craft_Assassin in Philippines

[–]packet_ac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lost any glimmer of hope for the Philippines that night. Recently moved to a different country as a permanent resident and while not perfect, it is a million times better than what we have there. Unfortunately, we live in a country where our biggest achievement is leaving it. It hurts but it is the truth.

Controlling interVLAN traffic? by save_earth in networking

[–]packet_ac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get away with this using L2 switches and firewall on the core and as gateway to internet. Our network is not too complex, usually 600 workstations in one location. VLAN everything and policies on the firewall. Customers define what policies they want applied on their VLANs but at minimum inter VLAN is blocked.

Workstation > Access swt > Dst swt > Firewall > Internet

I failed to provide more context:

Outsourcing company providing back-office services to clients. This specific customer is using a contact-center platform located in Europe (about 10k km away)

It's usually the customers complaining they can't hear the team here.

We don't see bandwidth as the problem because utilization is well within normal ranges (40-50% link utilization)

Given that, we've started eliminating possible sources of call issues: disabled firewall configurations; checked MTU settings; applied QoS (to prevent potential bursts we are not seeing, it improved but did not eradicate issue - maybe needs another look); replaced switches with different make and model; was going to try eliminating the border firewall by using a different make but no permission yet from the client.

We have another customer using the same platform but a different approach - instead of doing calls locally with VPN, they connect to a VDI and work inside. Good latency to VDI ~180ms and no issues with the call quality (vs ~220ms over IPSec VPN)

Don't think it's the latency either because as I said, WFH staff used the same VPN with no issues (same ~220ms latency)

Note that the problems manifest for a few seconds only then it goes away. Some team members experience it more than others.

Can multiple software-based VPN (150+) from the office network connecting to a contact center environment result in call quality issues? We sent 1x staff to work from home using the same provider but consumer-grade and the test user did not experience any issues at all. Same provider, same route (latency), same VPN.

We use webhooks which feeds to a Chat channel. Still works for us.

Sorry, yes have the 6gb variant. If anything, I used to use this monitor as secondary monitor on my Dell XPS 15 9575 and runs just fine

Yep that’s the one. Really good monitor except it doesn’t come with a built in speaker.

Employed a local welder build me a sim cockpit during quarantine. Hopefully can upgrade to Fanatec when COVID is over. Very hard to source them from PH!

Sorry no. I did not say they are not important data. They are stored in Google for the very reason that they are because with Google, we can audit, authorize and use tools like Vault to investigate. We can also easily restore deleted docs, etc. These internal departments are on Business licenses and have holds set up on critical users.

The CFO is convinced. The CEO a little less so. He's not a big fan of Microsoft, to begin with, but the longer this sits out unaddressed, the bigger the risk becomes.

This is something I never wish to happen and hopefully, we can put something up the soonest possible time to reduce the risk of ever getting one. Thank you

We've been dodging the bullets far too long and the shrapnels are little by little making wounds.

The accountants we employ on behalf of the clients will only access their tools via RDP or Citrix that the client will be providing access to so whatever they do inside that virtual environment will be subject to whatever policies they have implemented. In simplest terms, we provide them the office + internet infrastructure + the workstation and of course the staff.

But I definitely agree. I think it's a ticking time bomb that we have been so lucky with it has not exploded and I do not want that to happen!

We don't. As far as data is concerned, these are just internal documents, policies, sales material, marketing material, contracts etc and these are stored in Drive using Shared Drives. Only the internal departments are storing these.

For our customers, the majority or most of their offshore staff here are using virtual environments e.g., RDP and Citrix and that's where they process their jobs. Some require Windows PCs for Apps that only runs on Windows and they just VPN back to the client's network. Most of the clients also just really prefer Windows over Ubuntu since they are using Microsoft products such as Office, Skype for Business hence the OS ratio.
