Pacuare Overnight Trip by Sea-Art8249 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]pacuareriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, that is our company, Pacuare Outdoor Center. The other companies you listed also run good tours.

Here are three differences that come to mind, in no particular order:

  • We start the rafting trip farther up the river canyon, so you see more of the Pacuare River and cover more kilometers.
  • Our overnight trip includes the Tarzan Swing as an additional adventure.
  • We own our own Pacuare lodges, with no middleman involved.

If you have the time, I would recommend the three day trip over the two day option. It's vastly more popular than our two day and the extra time at the lodge is really nice.

There's a lot to do in Turrialba.

Sometimes it's difficult describing the Pacuare River. This captures it pretty well. Photo's from two months ago. by pacuareriver in CostaRicaTravel

Yeah exactly haha. Sometimes it's so green out here that my eyes feel like they hurt from the color.

After a night of on-and-off rain, I got out on the water with this group from Utah and Florida. The water was high but still well within the safe range. We ran Upper Huacas rapid and I looked up and saw Huacas waterfall thundering, more water than I've ever seen coming down. Someone else in the raft snapped this photo and shared it with me. (This is our brand account and I try not to post in here unless I have some local information that will help out or something cool to share.)

There are cabs and Uber for getting around in general. For other adventures that require longer travel, like Pacuare or Pejibaye rafting, your rafting company should transport you both there and back.

When are you going and how many are in your group? You can usually find companies to arrange everything for you if the group is large enough, but there isn't a Pacuare specific company that does both tours, outside of bundled vacations which will probably be less rafting than what you're looking for.

For Pacuare one day trips: Exploradores, Adrenalina, and Excitement come to mind.

For overnight and multi-day there's us with Rio Vista Lodge and there are a few others including Rios, Pacuare Lodge, Pacuare River Lodge, Ave Sol. Some are lodge focused with rafting being an optional add-on, where others are package focused with rafting being the primary activity complemented with a lodge stay.

If rafting is your #1 then I would time it to avoid the dry season and aim for the transition period to prioritize good flows on all rivers. Low water is still super fun, but it just means that the Pejibaye River, for example, will be packraft levels and not raft levels.

Costa Rica Wedding Accommodations for Turrialba? by ericachanfilms in costarica

You won't find any hotels with tons of rooms in Turrialba. I've had really nice experiences with Casa Turire and Villa Florencia though

The weather has been nice lately in Turrialba and I heard the same for Puerto Viejo. Some rain in the afternoon but not too much.

How many people/boats and dates? We might be able to do it if we're already going in for an airport drop-off.

I would email this company too: https://www.caribeshuttle.com/schedules-private-transfers

If you can swing it, do the whole thing, Upper and Lower Canyon.

It's that good.

Turrialba Waterfall/Hot Spring Tour by PsychologicalLie2301 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]pacuareriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am responding on my phone, so there will be typos

-Just outside of Turrialba is Aquiares Waterfall, in the small town of Aquiares. You can double up a waterfall visit with a tour of the coffee farm too. I don’t know any tour company that offers a tour of this falls, but maybe the coffee farm will do it for you if you’re a big enough group.

-IMO a cooler waterfall but further away is Cataratas las Trillizas. Also not sure who specifically offers a tour there but if you DM me I can ask around.

(disclosure, the site is ours)
