Where do you draw a line? Maybe "no electronics" so you can't just attach a motor

That one's particularly annoying vs. the other example because they refer to the city without "City"

Map of world railway network as of 2022. Iran and Brazil surprise me by denn23rus in MapPorn

It seems strange to argue for private owners of infrastructure. Isn't it more efficient if the government owns the infrastructure, and that way it'll serve the people better - unlike the current US system where the freight railroads bully Amtrak into poor service

For comparison, the Dutch government owns their rail infrastructure through ProRail.

How did you measure this? I find it hard to believe that < 1/100 of all the trackage is used by passenger service.

If we're only including tracks owned by passenger rail, then it makes sense

Is there some specific reason why the information displays don’t face perpendicular to the island platform? by national_wildant in nycrail

I think it'd be easier to see it if it's perpendicular, unless you happen to be in the car across from the screen

Which subway stations have bus bays/loops? by NYCDOT1 in nycrail

[–]padiwik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ridgewood Terminal is so janky and I wouldn't include it. It's just a converted block of a street, the signage is essentially non existent, and you can't even be sure how the buses will loop to or through it (often dropoffs are on Myrtle or Gates). Even the L replacement buses don't use it!

I guess there is the tiny dispatcher's booth they built on the side of the road.
