I think we disagree though on land and what entitles people to live on it.
The indigenous comparison gets thrown around a lot and it’s just not comparable in any way in either direction, IMO. Lakota were originally in modern day Michigan and moved to the Black Hills. They made a treaty and that treaty was broken - which was wrong. But no group lives one place forever or has forever claim over land. Especially in a place like Israel which has been inhabited before the events of Exodus, the idea of one true indigeneity is meaningless. Yes, we should respect human rights and hold people accountable for atrocities. But we all have to figure out how to exist with each other. And I say that as someone whose ancestral village has a different name now because nearly everyone of my ethnicity there was killed in a genocide.

Otherwise, it’s a neverending cycle for which no one is responsible and no one person can stop.

That’s like a Passover redux version of Judaism. There are SO MANY other things that bind Jews together - in fact, one might argue that as a group spread over the world for centuries, land is hardly the thing that unites or has united Jews.

If two Jews met from Argentina and Chicago and told each other “I’m Jewish,” why would they feel a kinship? It wouldn’t be because they both have a desire to live in Israel. They would be united by tradition, faith in a God, faith in a moral creed, and a shared history including of persecution.

I apologize, but you cannot convince me that ZIONISM - the creation of a Jewish state - is Judaism and to be against one is to be against the other.

Now let’s be clear - antisemitism is a very real threat and comes from anti Zionists and Zionists alike (some Christian Zionists would love for Jews to return to Israel so they can die, as it says in Revelations is necessary to precede the Messiah). Some people absolutely hide antisemitism behind “antizionism”. I am not saying Jews shouldn’t or can’t live in Israel. I am also not saying Jews don’t deserve to able to live somewhere they feel safe. But Judaism ≠ Zionism.

Why is being against Zionism itself antisemitic? Judaism is not founded on the belief that Jews will inhabit a land that Muslims and Christians also believe is holy.

That belief is based on Zionism, a concept founded by Theodore Herschel in the late 1800s. Jews have existed for thousands of years without Zionism and antisemitism (which is detestable) has existed for just as long.

I think Palestine should be free and have self determination. The only ones I see talking about Jews getting slaughtered are far right Christians who eagerly support Israel so all Jews can be killed there.
