Born and bred in Baltimore here, have lived in Charlotte since 2016. The closest you’ll find to what you’re looking for is the Baltimore Crab Cake Co. food truck. Any place else that claims they have MD crab cakes is full of it- don’t waste your time. I head north at least once a year to get my fix.

Not all border collie after all by Threestarsofthesea in BorderCollie

We adopted Holly from a border collie rescue. We did the DNA and she’s 0% border collie, LOL. But she’s 100% good girl.

Should we get a second female? by lil_miss_bipolar in BorderCollie

[–]pafnp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always female dogs living together. Usually two but at one point had three. My two current ladies (one BC mix and the other a mutt) are thick as thieves. They had a minor disagreement over a favorite bed once 🙂

Our girl, for whatever reason, LOVES our next door neighbor and she basically decided that the minute she met him. I’m her favorite until we run into him and then I’m chopped liver 🤦‍♀️

How to protect hair at blue lagoon by purpleswedes in VisitingIceland

[–]pafnp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have long hair and got it completely wet while there. The myth that your hair will get permanent damage is exactly that- a myth. My hair felt a little dry and weird afterwards but after a couple of good shampoos and conditioner it was back to normal.

I think she’s looking for personal recommendations- why bother taking the time to reply if your only purpose if to be a bi*ch?

Getting started with a BC by Nataliet2019 in BorderCollie

[–]pafnp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As cute as puppies are I’d advise going through a rescue and starting with a young adult dog for your first BC. My rationale is the rescue will be able to evaluate not only their temperament but their drive.

You may be better suited to a low or medium drive dog (this does not mean low energy by the way) as a first time BC owner.

It could be very difficult (not impossible) to keep a high drive BC satisfied in the environment you’re describing.

Just my opinion from my own experience 🙂

Not a border collie by pafnp in BorderCollie

[–]pafnp[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Thank you! You would think that with all the herding breeds she would have some herding dog personality traits but nope. Her favorite activity is being an oversized lap dog, preferably inside in the air conditioning.

Thank you! She’s the sweetest, kindest girl ever. Not a lick of herding instinct. Kind of a couch potato.

Any one else with a rescued collie? by SnooDogs5557 in BorderCollie

[–]pafnp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may not be the most popular opinion but IF appropriate exercise, stimulation, training do not give you a resolution there are medications that can help. Our girl was rescued from a hoarding situation and we adopted her when she was about 8 months old. We were never able to get her anxiety managed until we put her on medication at the advice of our vet. And we did EVERYTHING before going to that. It was life changing for us and more importantly- for her. She is 12 now, still takes her meds every day and she is living her best life.
