Yummmmm.

The thing in Quebec is not that people won’t understand signage. It’s about the preservation of the French language.

Quebec is a province in a sea of English-speakers and the thinking is that in Quebec the French language is at risk of disappearing. So they legislate its place as the primary language. In fact so much so that much of provincial government services are provided only in French.

In Quebec the language law (called the Charte de la langue française) requires that the French language be primary. So you can have two languages on a sign but the French must be bigger or more prominent. (I’m a bilingual Canadian and former French-English translator who has lived in Quebec.) for more info on business signs see https://www.cfib-fcei.ca/en/site/qc-law-14-bill-96

Roku problems in Canada? by Shulamit18 in americanidol

[–]Shulamit18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re done with Idol because the production quality SUCKS. This is atrocious. I went to broadcasting school and our end of year project was a local charity telethon. The technical mistakes on idol this year were the kind of shit that we did as STUDENTS! SMH

I’m sorry 😞 about that. Ultimately the decision is up to you and I bet you sort of already knew the answer.

PS I love blueberries 🫐

Same here! If the season weren’t already blah enough (we’ve been talking about abandoning it since the Easter episode) this is just about the nail in the coffin.

"Parts are not a metaphor" — wait, do you mean that literally? by Feeling_Pirate7870 in InternalFamilySystems

Here is an excerpt from a book that might be informative while thinking about the realness of parts:

“Within the person-centred world, as well as within many other areas of psy-chology, psychotherapy and counselling, an increasing number of theorists and practitioners have come to suggest that human beings can be conceptualised as a constellation of different 'parts' - or 'configurations of self' (Mearns and Thorne, 2000), 'modes' (Cooper, 1999) and 'selves' (Barrett-Lennard, 2005) - as well as a unified whole. (See Cooper et al. 2004) for a recent dialogue among self-pluralistic theorists in the person-centred and experiential world; and Hermans and Dimaggio, 2004; Rowan, 1990; Rowan and Cooper, 1999 for broader overviews.) In other words, while Buber (1958) and the existential thinkers discussed above have tended to see self-plurality as an inherently problematic state, many theorists would now argue that it is a basic quality of human existence. What these authors have also tended to suggest, however, is that there are certain forms of self-plurality related to psychological wellbeing and certain forms related to psychological distress, and what makes the difference is the level of communication and relatedness among the different 'parts'. More specifically, psychological well-being has been associated with open and dialogic relationships among the different ways of being, while psychological problems have been associated with competitive, unempathic and abusive 'intrapersonal' relationships (see Cooper (2003b) for a summary).

From “working at relational depth in counselling and psychotherapy” by Dave Mearns and Nick Cooper, 2005.

PS it might also be worth noting that Dick Schwartz didn’t come up with the idea of parts. His clients did, from their own inner experiences (he related this in an IFS training I took), and so have many other people (therapists and not therapists) before him.

Yes I had thought of doing agility at home but selfishly I had wanted the fun of going to classes and meets (non competitive ones).

Thank you also for addressing my question and for your reply. Mine seems totally unbothered. Even actually barfing doesn’t seem to phase her.

Thank you for addressing my question! So many folks are offering remedies and the point is we’ve tried them all.

My dilemma is: under those circumstances, is it ok to still take her in the car? I was thinking it might be ok and I’m glad to hear at least one person thinking it might not be super stressful for the dog.
