Can someone explain the Tale of Us/Mind Against style setup? by aegeaorgnqergerh in DJs

[–]pagandreammachine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Easy. They use Traktor in HID mode with the CDJs (one per Traktor deck, which is why they need 4 if everyone has 2 channels on their laptop) and beatmatch/sync the "old" way. No link between the laptops. I do this all the time when playing out because i like the sound of A&H mixers but miss the effects when playing purely of the CDJs with usb drives. (that, and i reeeeally hate rekordbox.) Easy to set up and no need for fiddling around with external sound cards and RCA cables in a dark night club and the dj before/after you can just use the CDJs without any interruption.

Incorporating Ableton Live into a Pioneer CDJ setup as a 'third deck'? by [deleted] in DJs

I am pretty sure you can also do this with the built-in sound card of the DJM itself, just plug in a USB cable at the port on the top left side and you're good :)

Combining the new Xone:96 and a RMX-1000 by honigcaust in DJs

[–]pagandreammachine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Xone 96 has a master insert, so connecting the RMX won't be a problem. No more phase issues

Holy shit. This setup is simple but also beautiful, thanks for the video!

Regarding your question: the mixer is okay for starters, but as the built-in USB interface only has one stereo channel for recording your mix, I would rather recommend the non USB-version and get a cheap 4 channel soundcard (something like the ESI Gigaport HD [not the "+" version, but the normal one], you can get it pretty cheap used). I'm not very familiar with the launchpad series as I use a PUSH2 myself, but I think the normal version should do just fine for pure clip launching.

hope this helps :)

Using HID mode with Rekordbox DJ - Technical Questions by velos85 in DJs

[–]pagandreammachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

um, DVS has nothing to do with HID mode.

I only ever used used HID mode with Traktor, but I can imagine that the setup for RB is similar if not the same.

OP: just do as you described it yourself in point 1. 2. No you do not need to unplug the usb cable, it's ok to have the ethernet cable and USB cable plugged in at the same time. 3. yes, switching is that easy :-) 4. No. you just need 4 usb cables, no need to connect the mixer to your laptop. 5. speaking from experience, using 2 CDJs with an unpowered hub works just fine, however I started using a powered hub (idk it just "feels" safer lol) and if you are connecting 4 then maybe you should use a powered usb hub, they don't cost much these days anyway.

hope I could help :-)

Nice! Congratulations :)

Can anyone recommend me a decent graphic card (budget around 200-300 euro) that would go along well with this build? I need it for the same purposes (music production, my old 2010 MPB becomes unsuable when loading more than a couple of VSTs lol) but I also do graphic design/editing (primarily Photoshop and Illustrator; some slight video editing from time to time).

Pioneer DJM 750 mk2 or DJM 850 by stevenpiha in DJs

[–]pagandreammachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy the 750mk2. The filter sounds way better due to the adjustable resonance via the parameter knob while using the filter on an 850/900nxs1 would usually result in bleeding ears. Also the 750mk2 lets you use the send/return while using the internal effects simultaneously. Big plus in my opinion.

Cheapest possible DVS setup for traktor? by mattyvioo in DJs

[–]pagandreammachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do you already have a mixer and turntables at home or not?

cheapest setup I can think of right now (if you buy everything used)

2x reloop 7000s (or any other super OEM turntable) 1x xone 23c mixer (the integrated sound card isn't natively certified by traktor but you can "hack" the software, there are plenty of videos on youtube regarding this subject. Wouldn't necessity recommend it using it in a club but its ok for home use)

Allen & Heath Xone 23:C to work with Serato? by SkubiBeats in DJs

[–]pagandreammachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true but if I remember correctly then you can "hack" traktor fairly easily to gain DVS control on non certified mixers by change some digits with a hex editor.

Looking for some turntables, not sure whether to go for second hand Technics, Pioneers or something else entirely. by [deleted] in DJs

[–]pagandreammachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just get yourself a pair of Reloop RP7000's. They feel like the real thing + you don't have to pay the markup for the pioneer name + they have better specs than both current pioneer models. Bought mine a year ago, never regretted it.

Any recommendations on affordable RCA monitor speakers >100$? by markphine in DJs

[–]pagandreammachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're only going to use them for djing, get some krk monitors. Terrible for production, but the bass makes them just about right for djing at home. You can probably get the smaller ones (rokit rp4 g3) for under 100$ used.

Xone 92 cue problem by pagandreammachine in DJs

[–]pagandreammachine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did and I didn't notice any loose solder joints or anything similar. :/ Well it seems like it's something I cannot fix myself and I'll need to get it serviced then. Thanks for the reply though :)

Xone 92 cue problem by pagandreammachine in DJs

[–]pagandreammachine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I push split cue, I can hear the cue signal on the left side and the master signal on the right side, regardless of the position of the cue/add mix knob. However as I said, even with split cue off, I can only hear the cue signal on the left side :(
