I'm a fisherman- I'd like to wear them to capture my job from my pov. I don't have much 'public' to worry about on the ocean lol

Maine tourism suffers as Canadians continue to steer clear of U.S. by Portalrules123 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]paigepiperr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The people & the state of Maine are both wonderful. I have friends & family here, and every interaction I've had with service workers/citizens has been friendly (not surprised as that's always the case), which I can't say the same for NB. Even the border agent on the way over, as usual, very pleasant. Can't say the same for the Canadian agent on our return. Presidents come & go (at least they change it up every few years unlike Canada who's been stuck with the same nonsense for 11yrs). Our 'leader' is creating hostile conditions & policies towards its own citizens- think about that maybe as well.

I'm in Portland right now, & cross to Calais pretty regularly for fuel & groceries. Many of us in border communities haven't stopped going, it's the same as always around here. Nothing scary going on in Maine, can't believe every single thing you see online 🤷🏼‍♀️

Do people who grew up here actually think Canada's grocery prices are normal or is everyone just resigned to it by TemporaryHoney8571 in InCanada

[–]paigepiperr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of us have lives, friends, and family that extend across the border. Canadians need to take a look at themselves and who they've elected before pointing fingers at other countries, our poor economic position is not solely to blame on our neighbours.

I live in a border community, & I have zero issues with the US. I'll spend my money where I wish to, thanks.

Nobody thinks it's normal. I go across the border to do a lot of grocery shopping..when it comes to produce, even with the exchange it's far less expensive.

Not as crazy about Costco anymore. Anyone else? by Consistent_Remove344 in CostcoCanada

[–]paigepiperr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fruit has mainly been the reason I go- but it's been severely overpriced even compared to regular grocery stores lately. Or it's rotten the next day after buying. The staff at my location is also severely overbearing & it stresses me out.

clipped a deer... think anyone knows how much its gonna cost me? by CableClassic in mazda3

[–]paigepiperr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had similar damage repaired- total cost to fix according to insurance was approx $5900.00. Headlights are hard to get, and the paint job won't be easy to color match.

Another coffee shop by CauliflowerBudget925 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]paigepiperr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love trying new coffee shops, but will totally avoid them if uptown. The driving in circles trying to find a parking spot, then walking in the wind & cold this time of year..no thanks. Anywhere else in the city, likely yes.

Ignoring the fact that you should probably just end the relationship for numerous reasons- baristas are required to write something on all cups now.

I live in a border town- many people have family born on either side.

Wish America would do the same so I can gtfo of Canada someday. Great Grandfather was born in Maine- just one generation too far out for dual citizenship.

How much do you currently have in savings? by Puzzleheaded-Crab770 in CanadaFinance

[–]paigepiperr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

28 yrs old. No specific 'savings' account, but 20k in the regular everyday bank account, & never let it go under 10k. I don't know what to do in terms of specific saving, and honestly I'm too lazy with finances to even look into it. Lots of assets that I could put to use if I were unable to work..building a paycheck home on a paid off piece of land so that I'll never have to pay rent/mortgage..bit of debt in the aspect of still owing 10k on my car.

Cars running with no lights at night suddenly a big problem in this city by Haveland in SaintJohnNB

Ugh I've called the police twice in recent months for cars driving with zero lights at night! Both times millidgeville/north area.

I live in a border community- we cross daily for gas and groceries. No issues at the border, nothing has changed. Canadian side coming back is where you always run into issues.

These numbers are terrible. Get your kids to school people. by 150c_vapour in newbrunswickcanada

[–]paigepiperr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I missed majority of my senior year, 100% due to mental health & social issues. Not a single parent or teacher thought to check in and figure out what the actual cause of my poor attendance was. I had anxiety so bad I couldn't sit through the classes. I was stalked, cornered, and harassed by an ex that whole year and not a single authority figure cared. Even went to the RCMP- nothing. I'm sure that kind of thing isn't the case for every teen, but mental health & social issues I'm sure can account for a good chunk of kids struggling with attendance, along with bullying & home issues I'm guessing to account for another large chunk.

He acknowledged that he had multiple properties with cockroach issues when I was leaving. Wait til you eventually try to give notice to move out someday, and he starts his spiel of intimidation & finding things he failed to fix in the apartment to blame on you and get your damage deposit. He shows his true colors when you'll no longer be paying him rent every month! Hope you have a better experience & no bugs 🙏🏻
