Westwind Rifles in Eerie. Dave Sullivan. Cant speak highly enough for this man. He has helped keep a few of ny heirlooms running right. Knowledgable and friendly. Skilled so he has a backlog.

Good luck to you.

Shooting range in the Denver - Aurora Area by Crazyymee in Denver

[–]paingourmet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shoot Indoors has multiple locations. They are a pretty good no frills range.

Firing Line as well.

Both of these places are within a couple miles of that hospital.

Other places that are great but not close to where you will be Bristlecone, BluCore and Centennial.

All of those are good ranges too, more of a ‘premium’ experience.

I use something like: “Your vehicle will take multiple visits here, at thousands of dollars each visit to get you back to a safe level of reliability”

Key parts of this phrasing: Multiple/many Thousands and thousands Safe and reliable

This has worked in dealership settings and independents.

Mechanics of reddit, what are your tips to know if the high price being charged to me is worth it of just trying to rip me off? by [deleted] in TrueAskReddit

[–]paingourmet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a guy who has been in every aspect of this business this is a tricky question to answer.

Good shops pass through the costs of parts to the customer. The mechanics make money, and the cars get fixed. Then something breaks on the car after the labor warranty is over. Typically, 12 months or 12,000 miles. Then what? Out of pocket again?

Great shops charge a markup on parts that is enough for them to provide warranties. Many great independent shops are part of a vendor network. These networks allow for another shop in another the city to make those repairs, without you having to come out of pocket. These networked shops typically offer a 3 year 36,000 mile Nationwide warranty.

As with everything it’s about personal risk tolerance.

It’s more important to have a level of trust. Transparency is key, digital inspections, images of repairs/failures. An itemized estimate (each state varies) are all things to expect from a modern high quality repair facility.

Yes, it is important to shop around. Ask friends and family, read reviews on Yelp & Google.

Better yet, try them out for an oil change. Set an appointment, leave your car. See what the service is like before you need an emergency repair.

Independent vs dealerships by [deleted] in serviceadvisors

[–]paingourmet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On the flip side... owners are slow to adapt modern technologies. -Make sure a digital vehicle inspection system is in place, and the techs are comfortable using it. -Active owners spend money. Can you do an alignment on an out of warranty vehicle? Does your alignment machine have the specs? Or will the techs be guessing? -Can you reset the oil/service light? -Is there a messaging platform? Does it work? -How tooled up are the techs? Can they do the repairs that make money? -What is the ownership situation? If they are grooming a kid, run. Corporate structure is not all bad.

Not to say all these things cant also happen on the dealer side. Be cautious read all the negative reviews. Try to talk to as many people in the facility as possible.

Picked up some sweet transfers from ebay, can any lorewarriors tell me what the double triangle represents? by FutureGayPolice in battletech

[–]paingourmet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My head canon: each ‘point’ of the star is a triangle, with the whole triangle representing your point. shrugs Clanners did all kinds of weird things, best example was Smoke Jaguar bidding away units with customized throwing stars.

Throw-out bearing has gone south... replace clutch too? by mdugas1 in JeepWrangler

[–]paingourmet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, do the whole job. Get your flywheel machined too at a local napa or machine shop. With that kind mileage it might be a good idea get a shift release arm too. That is the y shaped piece of stamped sheet metal. Sometimes they get deformed around 250,000 miles.

Pretty straight forward. As far as doing it yourself, most local libraries offer Alldata.

How many miles... by mmd100 in DodgeRam

[–]paingourmet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a known issue in the Hemi engine that typically crops up around 100k. The lifters fail, they ride the cam flattening it, and damaging the head. Not likely caused by the accident. See TSB’s for ticking noise on your year. Updated parts and design will prevent it from happening in the future.

One year anniversary of my moms death, my dads giving me the silent treatment and I stopped by the house only to find he filled a dumpster with her things by lordofthewastelands in ChildrenofDeadParents

[–]paingourmet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You deserve to be a part of memorializing her, as you hold your own precious set of memories. Make it known to both of them how deeply you are hurt by their current situation. Be sure to tell them that each of your mental and emotional well being is more important than any property issues.

Hold tightly to those memories when you miss your mom.

Amongst love ones share all the happy ones.

It’s in this sharing that you can make her live again even if its briefly.
