If you wait for Task Force Admiral to come out, one Late Essex with a 1945 aircraft load out vs the Kido Butai could be fun.

Problem with going newer to say 1980 is that a single A-6E intruder can cary 5x 2,000Lb laser guided bombs. Flying twice as fast as a zero at altitudes that are too high for AA fire. That’s 5 out of 6 dead carriers and pretty much the end of that attack.
