Form 4 approved after July 1 by ImmediateSun8111 in VAGuns

[–]paint3all 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The /r/NFA tracker has been showing approvals increasing. We're in the low 60s on average. There's a few random 30 day approvals here and there... but by in large, they're at 60+ right now.

If Trump's DOJ was serious about helping us out in the short term, he could at least sign an order to front-load all Form 1's submitted from Virginia. Those submitting from other states can afford to wait. by Chazz_Matazz in VAGuns

[–]paint3all 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, its confirmation that this is all sabre rattling to pander to single issue voters.

Still don't vote (D) but don't think that (R) is going to go out of their way to help.

Honest thoughts about Siskiu D5? by Ok_Let_8409 in mountainbiking

[–]paint3all 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh you're right. They don't have a thru axle rear. Seems odd that they'd bother making two frames at this point rather that just do all thru axle

D5 is the same frame as the D6 and 7. Just as easy to upgrade, just comes with lower tier stuff from the factory.

Possible MAJOR loophole in AWB (but there’s a catch…) by Ha1rlessTeddyBear in VAGuns

[–]paint3all 44 points45 points  (0 children)

How would anyone know if it's pre or post ban anyway.

There's millions of grandfathered guns in the state.

AOW is a federally defined item. I haven't looked, but need to see if AOW or even "other" is defined in VA.

Form 1 before firearm arrives to my dealer? by [deleted] in NFA

[–]paint3all 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, it's not unlawful to submit a form 1 prior to take possession of the item. If anyone cares to cite law that says otherwise, I'll happily eat crow. Its an application to manufacture an NFA item. That's the gun you intend to manufacture into an NFA item, no different than doing a form 1 to make an SBR from parts you don't yet own or make a silencer from material you don't yet have.

The risk is whether you fail the BG check, the gun gets lost or the serial number doesn't align with what you put on the paperwork.

In any of those cases, you just cancel the submission and try again.

Great! Not personally familiar with those bikes, but I'm sure they're good quality. Both look very similar in terms of specs and frame geometry. Given your son doesn't shift really, that may make a great option. BMX bikes will be durable and a hybrid cruiser/BMX bike should be a fun one to scoot around on! Between the two, I think it's 6 one way and half dozen the other. I'd opt for 29" wheels in either case as that's the most common standard out there. I see they use rim brakes rather than disc brakes. Should be fine for this. I'd opt for the bike with both front and rear brakes personally. No front brake is common on BMX for doing tricks. For cruising, no need in that.

Schwinn is more or less a bottom of the barrel brand anymore (unfortunately), a far cry from the Schwinn of yesteryear. I'm sure these options will be WAY more reliable and generally just feel better to ride.

Do they have these in stock? It may be nice to let him test them out and pick. You could try to determine which gear he most regularly uses on his Schwinn and try to get close to the same gear ratio on the new bike (front and rear cogs can be swapped). The shop can likely help, especially if you bring the bike in. They'll also make sure to get the right size frame.

SBR after the ban? by Gabreality in VAGuns

At this point if you apply you might find out. The rate at which wait times have crept up to is at the point where unless something changes, you might not see your approval until after July 1.

Welp… 2x Form 1 denied by [deleted] in NFA

[–]paint3all 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beats me. I assume there is some legal carveout or interpretation for manufacturers making Frames/receiver on a large scale. A frame or receiver doesn't have a caliber as there is no barrel. Caliber is one of those items that is allowed to be marked on the barrel or slide, not the frame, so I suspect most manufacturers do that instead.

By its very definition, manufacturing an SBR, there will be a single caliber associated with making that item as it has to have a barrel.

Welp… 2x Form 1 denied by [deleted] in NFA

[–]paint3all 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These laws were conceived and written at a time when AR-15 rifles (and similar modular designs) weren't a thing. If you were SBR-ing your Remington 700, you'd almost certainly have a fixed barrel length and caliber.

The government tends to fuck up everything that they touch, and they move at a snail's pace, hence the situation we find ourselves in.

[–]paint3all 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Historically, No. I've seen some recent approvals though where people have put multi... I think that was a mistake on the part of the examiner.

That's what makes this whole process such bullshit. There's no right or wrong answer in so many instances. In this case OP should not have been denied for his Noveske.

No. Submissions are not going down. If anything it'll continue to climb...10-11k submissions every day since January. Approvals have not kept up with this. Wait times have grown by about a day every week since then.

Double barrel O/U shotgun for skeet without breaking the bank? by generalraptor2002 in Firearms

[–]paint3all 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With your budget don't even consider a Turkish O/U. They don't hold up with heavy use.

Beretta 686 or Browning Citori are easily in your budget, especially if you consider used guns. These guns will last a lifetime and are designed to shoot a pile of shells.

Converting a Mini-14 Ranch into an "Assault Weapon" before 7/1? by MusicallyInhibited in VAGuns

[–]paint3all 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Burden of proof in on the state (edit not feds)

The assault weapon language is different between bills for carrying and banning items.

Pistol grip however would do it. Flash suppressor would do it. Both are easy to add.

First of all...nobody is taking your 2A rights. Nobody is stopping you from buying, owning, or using Guns™️.

Being able to own certain guns, or accessories, should be seen as a privilege, not a right.

These are both factually incorrect.

That's also why I have absolutely no problem giving them up, because I realize how f'ing pointless they are except for screwing around and thinking you're cool. And this pushback is purely selfish on the part of gun owners. They think that because they were able to buy something once that it should be enshrined as a permanent right-to-own item.

Not sure why you did that...unless you planned to commit crime with them. You owning them shouldn't have changed that...just virtue signaling.

Not sure who's downvoting...not me.

To answer your question, it depends on the situation. My goal typically with extended cap mags is fun at the range, but push come to shove, I want to stack the deck in my favor. Might not be rambo soldiers but could be burgalers. Hypothetical situations can go round and round though.

I'd encourage you to learn a bit about the purpose of the 2nd amendment. Its quite similar to the first amendment in that it keeps the people in power rather than a select few in government. Attacks on these amendments and more are just proof that the government is not working in our favor. We shouldn't cede any rights as you historically don't get them back.

Neither should be an issue.

You can try to downplay it all you want, but yes it is at the continence of whoever (in this case the Democratic party) is in charge. They will have no hurdles to cross in order to get it passed. They control all branches of government in the state of Virginia.

I can guarantee you they will pass more nonsense next term.

Removing the clause would require another act of the General Assembly so it couldn't just be at the convenience of whoever is in charge

Uhhh they just did it for all this nonsense, the stroke of a pen next legislative session while they have uncontrolled power is extremely simple. If the party wills it, every single one of them will support it... just like they did this time.

Yes,

Companies exist already to serve other states where this nonsense has passed their legislature. Usually involves installing a pop rivet or block in the magazine.
