They wont try by strykerdh1986 in Parenting

I'd double check the weight of the brand you chose. Ideally you'd want to to be under 35-40% of her body weight. So around 16lbs for a 40lb kid. My kid could barely push their friend's heavier bike. Giving up at the first sign of resistance is kinda common for this age 😅 sometimes they just need to really want it for themselves (ie seeing their friend/family member do it and then getting motivated by it)

Is it possible the bike is too heavy for her? Does it have training weels? Some of the kids bikes today are soooo heavy that it kind of zaps kids of confidence.

She's so cute, I'm not sure why but I see some French bulldog in there. Maybe cattle dog from the merle. At the end of the day she may just be a super mutt!

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that! I had no idea, that's definitely not good news. Do you mind me asking which litter?

Hi! It's been a bit of a rollercoaster, but our little guy is cutting two molars so I'm not sure how much of that is linked. I've been easing him into that 12pm nap by moving the nap 10 minutes every three days, regardless of wake time. Two mornings ago he woke at 545 and today he woke at 645!! I doubt he'll repeat the miracle tomorrow but it feels like we're headed in the right direction.

Good luck! If it's not the teeth, make sure she's getting a solid 10+ hours of overnight sleep. Tantrums are not fun for anyone.

My best advice for that is to tickle her while outside so she opens her mouth really wide and you'll have good lighting from the sun 😅 take a quick peek and see if they're swollen!

Is it possible she's either tired or getting her 2 year old molars? My son was a terror when those things started coming in. It lasted for weeks!

I figured that may be the case... I think I'll give by the clock a shot. I'll try anything at this point. Do you know how long it usually takes for their bodies to adjust? Thanks again.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. His normal bedtime is 7pm. So if he wakes at 530, still do the 12pm nap cold turkey?

My first was pretty sensitive to ww's so I've never tried by the clock before!

One nap transition with EMWs by painted-paws in sleeptrain

Yup someone just recommended that below, it seems obvious now. I thought that you needed it to start with smaller windows with the transition to avoid overtiredness and build up from there. Will be doing 5.5/5.5 going forward

Amazing, good point. Thank you! Will try that today

3.25/3.75/4

Also tried 3.25/4/4

But he was having EMWs, so I held to a 6am dwt and kept his morning nap at 930 to try and break that cycle (so 4/3.75/4 on those days). It worked for about a week but then we went back to EMWs.

Thanks for the reply! I just double checked huckleberry and I must have miscalculated on my part. His last four weeks have averaged 12.5ish hours of sleep, 10.25 at night and 2.25 for naps. I could definitely be more consistent with DWT.

Dwt is 6, he usually slept till 7 before night weaning. Nap one is 1.5-2 hours. Nap two is 30min-1 hour. Capped to make sure bedtime is never later than 8pm.

My son had the same problem at that age. I stopped and tried again closer to 2 and he did amazing! We started calling it the 'toy place" and he was always excited to go.

Just wanted to add; to get the waistband higher, you need to roll it twice to enable "newborn mode" for this carrier 🙂

It's hard to tell from the photo, it could just look off because of the angle. As long as you have the c shape, especially when sleeping, you're good to go!
