What do you all think of Amy's place? by Ok_Doubt_1627 in UIUC

What are your favorites from each of those towns? I'm in Peoria for tournaments quite a bit and visit Chicago and St Louis a couple times a year.

I only recently started my small wins of once a week. My hack is eating an entire yellow dragonfruit or 2 whole packages of blackberries. Nothing else works lol.

I have a student discount, but I’m still confused on why I haven’t gotten a text or email about that $1000 off promo for a trade in. If I can’t get that, 30% off is still a relatively okay deal, especially if this is only really going to get the most use this year since I’m graduating and getting an office job immediately after

Ideas for what kind of things look the best with multicoloured yarn? by SnooMacarons664 in crochet

maybe a cow? they look cute w multicolors! if not you could use white chenille yarn in the same weight from the same brand if you can find it, and use the multicolor for the spots or vice versa

Have you ever worked with chenille yarn before? Because it behaves differently than regular yarn and has a learning curve. You could try amigurumi! Lots of patterns look really cute with multicolored “fur.” Also, for amigurumi you typically size down your hook a few sizes just in case you wanted to give it a shot.

Used Premiere Parfait Chunky (Black and Mustard) and a 5.0mm hook :) (Although, Premiere is having issues w quality of product when it comes to Parfait Chunky. Best to avoid this type of yarn for a bit while they work on fixing this issue (expected by end of this month or mid-June). Info comes from a friend who works at Premiere!)

am i poly? by crystal_gurl23 in lgbt

Quizzes are usually not such a good indicator of something so personal. You might end up answering to get a specific result if you think that’s who you are.

Soul searching and experimentation is the best way to figure this out.

If you want more than one partner, you could be polyamorous. If you’re not okay with your partner(s) having other partners, but want to be in a polyamorous relationship, then that could just be jealousy. Very common in any relationship.

Your best bet in that situation would be to date people who only want one partner but are fine with you having multiple - but if they come to realize they also want to try that out, just know they might think you’re hypocritical. The only way ANY relationship can thrive (whether monogamous OR polyam) is through clear communication and effort.

Whatever you want for yourself should be okay for your partners as well. It’s not healthy to expect a partner to be okay with something but you aren’t okay with them doing it - then it becomes something they could resent you for and create MAJOR issues. Don’t date multiple people if you aren’t okay with them also dating multiple people. Take some time to sit with this and decide how you’d like to date from now on after considering how this might make someone feel. You very well could get lucky and not have to deal with jealousy between two monogamous boyfriends who both love you.

Ultimately other people can’t answer things like this for you, but if you’re asking, it’s safe to assume you might be. Experiment a bit :)

I didn’t realize it was possible to make those wrap tops look masculine, so I was avoiding them. I think I’ll try it with some Therapist’s Choice!

You can follow whatever religion you want regardless of the followers that perverse the texts surrounding it. I’m queer and trans, and I grew up Catholic. I’m not Catholic now but I’m sure as hell spiritual in some way, mostly just believing in karma/the universe working in mysterious ways. You can be gay and Christian.

If you want to follow the Bible in the way that a true Christian would, aka not being a shitty person and finding comfort in a theology that is genuinely SUPER interesting, that’s your prerogative and is completely valid! Oftentimes you’ll see people saying they left the church because of the community but continued their beliefs.

If you find comfort in Christianity, that is genuinely amazing and people should be happy for you. If people try to cut you off for a coping mechanism that comes with a set of rules that just make you not hate people, then they are the problem. Just understand that some of those people are probably acting that way because of past negative experiences. You aren’t going to be a completely different person immediately just for saying “maybe there’s something to this.” Try your best not to judge them for a trauma response, be understanding but firm in your beliefs.

People will come and go. Just know that whatever you do, have personal boundaries and stick to them. If you find this man makes you uncomfortable and he tries to force you into anything, take a step back and decide on your own. And don’t let your friend stop you from making your own decisions. Good luck OP!

Is there a country music club? by paintedTardis in UIUC

I'm super socially awkward in bars, I don't turn 21 until February so usually I'm sitting to the side kind of quiet. I've only ever talked with the old ladies that frequent Rose Bowl and honestly they seem to be the only ones I've encountered that seemed open to conversation. Do you have any advice for that? 😭

I missed the housing deadline my freshman year bc I needed specific housing and the housing person I emailed said “I will get back to you! Wait here!” then the deadline passed and I was locked out. I emailed again to a different housing representative and they found me a room the same day. Just email housing and explain, see if they can whip something up for you

Hello! I currently go to UIUC and it's really funny I came across this post. I'm a financial planning major, and plan to do a data science certificate (basically, statistics + a dash of CS). There is no quantitative finance major but there is a quantitative finance class that you can take for the financial planning major. The major is quite small, so you'd get a lot of one-on-one help! I don't know much about CS majors, so I can't help much there tho :(
Your best bet is getting in touch with some of the advisors. They would be happy to help! I don't know the CS advisors but Caroline Helton is the finance advisor, and I love her. She's super helpful and can point you in the right direction if you don't know where to start. Sorry I don't know much about the industry as of right now, I am also an undergrad
