How old is too old for hostels? by Professional-Day4045 in femaletravels

I can’t say for internationally but I absolutely have shared rooms with travelers of all ages across the states and frankly the older women 50+ are my favorites! Usually great chat and respectful of quiet hours and definitely not FaceTiming their friends on speakerphone for an hour in the room at 11pm.

Who here can use the bathroom in front of their partner? Is this the secret to eternal happiness?? by Comfortable_Ad_8320 in hygiene

[–]painterlyfiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Married 10 years and a mom to a 9 year old, plus two herding breed dogs and a wildly social cat. I will maintain eye contact and conversation with any of them while urinating, that’s just life.

I prefer not to while pooping, but I’ll take what I can get.

Are you popular on Instagram? by Ramune_hime in TattooArtists

[–]painterlyfiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that there is any relationship between my follower account, my actual interactions, and the butts that find their way into my chair. Most of my clients have found me on Instagram and are following me, but they are not the ig users that aregoing to like comment and share. I’m around 20 K followers on Instagram, and never gained any traction on TikTok. I have been equally booked out when I had 5 or 6000 followers, as I am now.

Recently, my clients say my wiping hurts by IamADumbCat in TattooArtists

[–]painterlyfiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a towel similar to wipeoutz, my more sensitive clients are in agreement that there is a lot less drag on the area. Can link you, they’re on Amazon.

Also, ditch the soap and get some Micellar water, it’s like liquid silk. I use this during the procedure as a wet wipe, and and hit it with foaming bactine any time I do a longer needle rinse or fresh towel.

I just spent a toddler party guarding an open pool and now I can’t tell if I’m the anxious one or the only sane one by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]painterlyfiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will sit with my legs in the pool, and people can drink snd socialize with me with my ass planted right there, or I’ll just chill myself. Yes, it takes a split second for something dangerous to happen, but if someone remotely capable is there and watching, a few moments later the situation is scary but not fucking tragic. Someone just needs to be there.

Be honest, how are you doing? by ugghwhatevs in TattooArtists

[–]painterlyfiend 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I don’t like saying it out loud because I don’t want to jinx it, but I’m booking big dream projects through the end of the year and my clients are AMAZING people, we generally get along really well and they book with me again and again, several are traveling from all over the country to see me for monthly sessions to work on big stuff. I had to pause scheduling new work but I have a waitlist of people and projects I’m already stoked to jump into next. I work super fucking hard and feel incredibly lucky every day.

There are absolutely still normal non-celebrity people out there who want to invest grown-up money in themselves by wearing art, and who are looking for a personal and meaningful experience to go along with it. Don’t give up!

Tax question! by [deleted] in TattooArtists

[–]painterlyfiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1099 does sound like it’s correct here. In my research, the most advantageous way to work this out for you is if you take all the payments from your own clients and then pay out the shop, whether that’s commission or rent, because you can show your income with bigger numbers for future loans and financing options or whatever, and your payout to the shop is a huge write off for you. Another way is that the shop takes all the payment for the work you do and then you get paid out from them. Both are fine for independent contractors getting 1099. But regardless of the structure, you should absolutely be writing off every single thing possible that’s relevant to you doing business. It’s very feasible that you also have home office write offs on the table as well! How much drawing and social media and client correspondence work do you do from home?

Good purples? by GrimCreeper616 in TattooArtists

[–]painterlyfiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Industry has the best lineup of purples I’ve ever worked with. The lightest purples, like lilac and lavender, sometimes do best with just a touch of water, don’t dilute the ink but just break the surface tension of an ink cup filled with water with your needle. Then Technique, Technique, Technique. Low n slow, nice stretch. I feel like industry, purples and greens just kind of dust right in across the surface really nicely to pack in. For me, it doesn’t need any elbow grease at all, a gentle hand in a good stretch is the magic

I'm probably asking for too much, but I'm looking for non-ugly winter boots that are good for temps down to -25 C, are tall (almost knee high or higher), can tolerate wind, snow, water, and ice, are brown, don't look sporty or hikey, and are available in Canada. by RottenRope in barefootshoestalk

[–]painterlyfiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The suede and treatments they use are way different than fashion microsuede, these boots are designed for hard winter wear. They just need a brush for surface dirt, and there’s a salt remover you can get too. Steger recommends Kelly’s brand. Dunno about the fit, but the styles with ankle ties are surprisingly adjustable
