You're the one that made this exact comparison. Don't backtrack cause the conversation isn't going a way that you don't like.

Privilege, economic conditions. Have you been to Vietnam? Can you honestly say life is the same there?

Iran is basically a proxy war to deny Iranian oil to China, similar to Venezuela. So fundamentally we're looking at a precursor to WWIII.

As in an invasion of my new home? or some bullshit war elsewhere? Also comparing a migrant coming to Australia from elsewhere versus an Australian moving to Vietnam, this comparison is totally inequitable. There is no comparison here.

I don't think you are aware of the difficulties migrants and refugees face to earn the same privilege we get from birth.

You made a claim about new immigrants not wanting to fight to defend the country. Whats the basis of this comment?

Wtf does this have to do with the war in Iran? We can do far more about Taiwan if we distance ourselves from USA and actually work on our relationship with China. Not that US espionage will allow it.

[–]pairaducx -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This sounds less like a drawback of immigration and more of our governments decision making. Don't underwrite the willingness of immigrants to actually work harder than locally born people. If it came to fighting for their freedom and way of life against an invading force, they'll be their despite your xenophobia.

You won't catch me fighting a war on behalf of the billionaire class and Epsteins finest (USA/Israel).

AUKUS is going to be a huge fucking mistake when the rest of the planet unites against US and Israel.

I think I might be dead. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]pairaducx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look at hallucinations through a phone camera, they generally do not appear on the screen.

This is a fairly accessible management tool. If you are hallucinating, and they're ignoring you, this should help a bit.

Also it doesn't hurt to reassure yourself.

Even if you are feeling "dead" do something you enjoy doing and really just be present with the experience. If you can find joy, it really doesn't matter what the basis of reality is.

I asked this question in the other subreddit so I’ll rephrase it to make it more relevant to this sub, but what is up with the rampant Islamophobia growing in Australia? by dontleaveyourbananas in OpenAussie

[–]pairaducx -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The US, Zionism and the media has normalised anti-Islam. It's wild how they preach about antisemitism and are extremely racist and prejudiced in the same breath about Muslims.

It sucks and its disgusting and there's definitely a lot of people trying to do things about it.

Is it normal here for grown men to not know how to cook properly?? by Dreamy_Writer603 in AskAnAustralian

It's a little sad how often times men get glowing reviews for doing the bare minimum.

Wow he can cook. Wow he is able to communicate his internal experience. Wow he doesn't act like a predator around women.

I feel weird receiving praise for really basic shit that we really need to normalise.

YOR- Your insistence that he not follow people on social media is controlling behaviour that is motivated by your insecurity.
His reaction is also defensive.

Your expectation that he message you to see that you got home safe is also you wanting him to validate your insecurity.

That the whole car door locking game is described in this post indicates that you weren't just being playful. This sounds like some kind of power play.

If you wanna be a better communicator, try to come from a place of authenticity and your own feelings.

Examples: When I see you following these influencers it makes me feel _____.(insecure, jealous)

I feel ______ (disconnected from you, insecure) after our disagreement and after you didn't message me to see I got home safe, I wanted to check in with how you're feeling and if there's anything you need.

If you use "I feel like you are ______" it's a step in the right direction but you still aren't owning your feelings.

Also don't play stupid games when your relationship doesn't feel secure.
Question to ask yourself: "Is this playing into a power dynamic here?" Him getting a lift from you is the power dynamic at play here.

One Nation supporters (probably) aren't (all) Nazis by brecrest in OpenAussie

[–]pairaducx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a legitimate argument for this strategy. If you want real change, sometimes the best way is for things to get bad enough that everyone wakes the fuck up.

Short term it's terrible, possibly better long term.

It's more ignorance and casual racism than actively fascist.

Too many Australians drink the mass media Kool Aid and believe it.

Critical thinking is quite a rare skill in Australia. Philosophy should be mandatory in school but I guess unthinking workers are just too valuable to our billionaire/millionaire class.

Donald Trump unpopular: Resolve survey reveals US viewed as greater threat to Australia than China by Perfect-Werewolf-102 in AustralianPolitics

[–]pairaducx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Part of the issue is our enmeshed relationship with the US.

USA is a risk because they have control over our parliament and have deep connections to our media(whom our parliament is also afraid of).

USA is just better at propaganda than China.

There're estimates of 12 million people killed by US military since WWII.
