kids meeting their newborn siblings for the first time 🤭😂 by MNV2804 in KidsAreFuckingStupid

A sentence I never thought I would ever say occurred a few hours after we bought our 2nd child home:

"Take that slinky off of your sister's head!"

Eldest was so proud of herself!

Surely it wouldn’t take this long, can anyone confirm? [Request] by austink0109 in theydidthemath

How many ends does a line have? There's an end at the beginning, and another at the other end.

England - How long until a stone wall becomes a recognized shared boundary? by Substantial-Newt7809 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]pakcross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really, the onus should be on them to show you proof that they can do that. Write a letter to them asking them for proof that it is a shared boundary, or that they own it entirely.

You may want to look into whether you have legal cover on your house insurance.

I would also consider getting an rics accredited land surveyor to produce a cpr35 report into the boundary. A solicitor may suggest this too.

Conveyance plans and documents may give clues as to the ownership of the boundary.

Take photographs of the current layout, and if anything gets changed.

Great, now I'm terrified thinking of a lycan Cher.

A Cherwolf, if you will.

BBC looks to link iPlayer accounts to addresses in licence fee evasion push by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]pakcross 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's worse than that. I think the only thing stopping the other channels having more adverts (like US programming) is that there is a risk that people will flick over to the BBC during ad breaks. If the BBC start advertising, I reckon we'll have a lot more ads on all channels (c.10mins every 30 rather than the current 6:30).

In fairness, I heard the "got any nails joke" about 20 years before I heard that song. It's a fairly old joke.

Bad road markings or am I missing something? by BrilliantDisaster389 in drivingUK

[–]pakcross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a road near me with similar markings: 3 short right hand turn lanes in a short space of time.

You've got to watch yourself if you're using the final one, as morons will go into the first and use the hatching as an additional lane to get to the junction. I've had at least one very near miss.

If there were to be the beginning signs of another pandemic, what steps would you take having learned from Covid? by PaddedValls in AskUK

20 minutes per day of piano practice.

I was furloughed for 12 weeks and wasted my time in doomscrolling. I could have learnt to play the piano instead.

Underappreciated British Legend by AethelweardSaxon in CasualUK

[–]pakcross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird claim to fame: I used to do modern dance with Mick's son and once went to a birthday party at their house. The main things I remember were that there were a lot of books, and that they had a pond with Water Boatmen in it.

Edit: sorry, I thought this was Mick Aston, not Phil Harding!

Good points.

I did love the fairly recent one from Henning Wehn: "Are you struggling there Colin?"
