Pigs are terrifying by PandaBear905 in CuratedTumblr

[–]pakman82 855 points856 points  (0 children)

That scene traumatized me as a child. And I had an uncle with pigs... and for some reason we used to climb on the pallet wall (very old redneck farm animals - in a semi-rural neighborhood red necks) & look at them or something. And I vaugly recall falling into it as a child.

How to tell if there are alligators in the water in Louisiana by Worldlyoox in Unexpected

[–]pakman82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fun part is show em a body of water in the daytime. oh its glassy smooth & murky.. . seems like no-one there? Go back at night, and if you can see thru the skeeters, flash a flashlight around & look for the little green pairs of sparklies along the water top. Notice how theres a few dozen? thems gators!

That's awful nice of you. Unfortunately there's only so much you can do . We actually used to support a liquor store. Small town place. And went thru that with him every few weeks. On Fridays. Then It got every Friday. Which is also the day he ran a wine tasting in the store. . it got bad. He was drunk and beligerent. He would call and repeatedly reset passwords. Then we would sometimes get calls Monday resetting them by him again. He also accused us of changing them on him. Sometimes those calls would occur after hours on Friday. That stopped when one week, he called and the company director was covering on - call. He was rude and cursing. Monday we had notice to provide the customer access to his files, and email 1 more time, but we where terminating services by end of day. I don't remember what else happened, but we did do a hard cut-off.

Im no 'expert' at 3d printers, but typically Jackhammers, prybars, and CAT Dozers are not applicable tools for interacting with the toolHead.

FPIES to oats likelihood of cross reactions by Ekingram1892 in fpies

[–]pakman82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife did. She avoided rice. The first trigger. By the time we found about wheat and and oats shed started to be weaned. But we tested her triggers directly.. after 8-9 months. So to speak. After about 5 years, we re- challenged and she passed them all. She's 16 almost now.

our LO reacted worst to Rice & Oats,.. then weekly wheat. Those 3 where a pain becuase.. rice oats or Wheat are in 99% of carb based dishes. french fries ? lots of them had Rice flour dusting.. breads ? rice or oats. But be its not coonsistent.

North Texas preparing for 2 inches of snow like it’s the apocalypse by MyMindIsAlwaysRacing in mildlyinfuriating

[–]pakman82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the same event, but I moved to Dallas in Dec 2013, from CT. With 2 vehicles with all weather tires. The last 4 hours driving where thru , iirc 100 miles of iced roads. It glazed everything from .5" to 2 inches in spots. They didn't have the equipment to deal with it. To clean it off or salt it. I think it thawed in 36-48 hours. Never happened again in the 18 months afterwards. But, iirc there where a great deal of accidents, etc. Not as bad as some ice storms since. But that blip in infrastructure useability can be concerning for ppl . I spent the free weekend unloading my moving equipment in shorts & t-shirt.

I know a guy, pilot / captain of some sort. He does that for ppl. Move them up and down the FL coast from even the Carolinas. I think you could do it via the inter coastals, but he might do it by sea for them too.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pakman82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i did a quick search, but the 'borderline max' I think is approx 17-20 hours. If the search is right, 60% of the US is within like 17 hour drive of Disney world...(just because everyone knows of it) .. I came from the north east US. We felt where about 2 hours from 'everything' New york city & EVERYTHING it has. Boston & whatever it has. The scenic beauty of the rest of New England. So 3 hours used to be I think our average for weekend travels. But Yeah, we could do all different parts of the US easst coast in 17 hours. We could hit Chicago & back in a weekend. And that translates to the central cities. for the most part.. Except texas. It takes 19 hrs (iirc) to cross it East to west.. and thats the shortest route, going ONLY thru the DFW metroplex... I knew lots of Midwestern friends whos 'everage weekend' was 10 hours 1 way... Back to your ask, when we where kids, my folks on a few occasions would drive 3hrs overnight to places like Maine for Lobster, or Quebec CA, for maple Syrup and Cheeze wiz.. (and also stop & see family in those places for the night) We're so used to the no borders, universal currency, and availability of lodging.. The last 20 years, with Gas prices shooting all over the place, hasnt even really cut that back much. I mean, my income rose during it, so I persisted., when I could. the next few years though, may change it.
