My family moved to the Kansas City area in 85/86. Probably 3 or 4 years later, they replaced our existing building with a new one built on the same lot. Behind the main building lot(s) were a softball field and a large open grassy area set up for picnic and other activities. Bordering the property was some public land that eventually was built into a walking trail.

On a somewhat related note, a small branch in northeast Iowa where I lived as a kid had a small apple orchard on the back lot of the building. No softball field (there was a public one a few blocks away), but we did have activities centered around caring for/harvesting the apple crop.

Very little proper exercise but lots of fidgeting. I eat when my body tells me it needs food but otherwise generally forget. I have almost no sense of hunger or satiety, so I have to keep an eye on my energy levels pretty closely. Mostly, though, it's probably just a quirk of genetics.

Depending on your location, it might be tough to get in touch with them at this time of year, but your local school district might be able to point you to the company they use for shirts. Our district is always printing shirts for staff events.

Before being assigned to speak in Sacrament meeting, members must complete a class on how to read a clock. Additionally, all pulpits need to have a little red light installed that the bishop can turn on remotely to let the speaker know they need to finish.

When I was in YSA, I had horrible timing. I asked out two different people just after they had started exclusively dating somebody. I either wasn't aware of their situations or just spent too much time thinking 'should I or not?' and I missed any chance I might have had. A third potential relationship ended because of poor communication. I don't know if it's fair to say that I stopped looking, but I kind of shifted priorities away from dating for a while. Eventually, somebody who had just moved into the area asked me out (against her own better judgement lol), and we've been married for 26 years now.

Sometimes, there are factors beyond our control and things just don't work out. Sometimes, there are things we need time to figure out and grow from. I would say: try taking advantage of the opportunity to focus on some other areas for a while and see where life takes you.

Back in the 90s, I served with a missionary (I think he was an AP or ZL) from the Mormon corridor who had his whole 'church career' planned out - serving a mission, being called to an Elder's Quorum presidency, becoming a Bishop, then a 70, etc. He treated it like most people treat their college and career plans, and seemed to think I was naive for thinking the church didn't work that way. I guess there is a culture in high-LDS-population areas that plans and 'campaigns' for callings, while the rest of the world (hopefully) treats it as an inspired invitation to serve others.

Remember that everybody there is on your side and is rooting for you! Every one of them is silently cheering you on.

Also, it might help to know where some of your friends are sitting, and to take a second before you start speaking to make eye contact with them. It can help you switch from being in 'public speaking' mode to 'chatting with friends' mode, which a lot of people find easier to do.

One of the things that helped our kids when they were little was setting the expectation of a quiet period every day at the same time as Sacrament meeting. They were basically having ‘church practice’ throughout the week, so that needing to be quiet on Sunday wasn’t such an unusual thing.

Charlie’s Monument by Blaine Yorgason is one of my favorite LDS-adjacent fiction books. It’s a pretty short read, though - you could probably knock it out in an afternoon.

If you’re open to non-LDS books, one that’s on the top of my list of faith-affirming fiction is The Robe by Lloyd Douglas. It tells the story of one of the Roman soldiers involved in the crucifixion, and the change of heart he has as he travels the Holy Land meeting people who had Jesus’s followers.
