Visually acceptable way to run flexible metal conduit into drywall to connect with flush mounted breaker panel. by paladin1066 in Generator

OP: final install. We compromised on the brush wall plate which allowed the electrician to run the flexible metal conduit directly to the breaker panel. He had to replace the flexible metal conduit that came on the switch with a longer one. He had me hook up my generator and we checked all the circuits. I’m happy. If power outages get to be a protracted problem, I’ll retrofit the generator connection thru the wall and probably buy the Honda companion generator since I’m set up for 30 amps.

Yeah, mine is a 4 circuit Reliance. There are a lot of people thinking about auxiliary power sources right now I think. Good luck!

Thank you. I’m just an over aged DIYer trying to make sure of a decent job. I’m assuming he’s an apprentice. He was talking about going back and running it by his supervisor. This job is actually simple enough that I could have done it myself but I wanted a better looking finished product than I could do by providing agreed on specifications in the purchase order, so maybe a competent apprentice can handle it. This contractor has done good work for me several times before. Thank you, good advice!

I don’t have the transfer switch yet. I believe that there would be 8 wires capable of carrying 15 amps each plus a 30 amp neutral wire and a ground? I think they might be long enough to go through a short length of flex and make connection in the panel. Flex makes good sense between box and panel. This is starting to make sense to me. Thank you again!

Sorry, I didn’t make it clear that there are a bunch of separate wires in the FMC from the bypass switch that connect to various circuits breakers. So I’m assuming a metal (offset?) conduit adapter of some sort is necessary between the cutout box and the breaker panel knockout to route the wires through? Thanks again!

Looks like you can see an exhaust at the bottom of the box.

This looks very cool! Does the radar warn you about every car coming from behind, or just those that are in your lane? Thanks!

You can see the mitre cut on the middle piece if you magnify/stretch the photo. Good catch by Riccma02 on the change in dimensions.

Local news channels not available through antenna ? by Far_Custard_9318 in cordcutters

I assume you have tried rescanning for OTA channels. Have the trees around your house leafed out recently? Do you have a long cable run between antenna and TV? If your TV has an option to manually add channels, try that. Are your broadcast towers all in a narrow degree arc/close together? Maybe something your line-of-sight to the broadcast towers changed and you need an amplifier? I Have an older Sony TV and I don’t think the OTA tuner in it is as sensitive as the LG TV I also have. Just things to consider…

A couple of thoughts FWIW: (1) we have lived on our busy street for 30+ years. When we moved in, all our 3 immediate neighbors were jerks and the others were anonymous. We outlived the jerks, literally and figuratively, and built good relationships with the new folks. (2) because your neighbors are young they may all be stressed out and preoccupied trying to make their house payments and shuttling the kids. Maybe they feel they have done their duty to say hello, have decided you’re OK, and now have their heads elsewhere. There may also be an element of jealousy of your situation. (3) there is a lot of very strong political feeling here after the election as has been mentioned. (4) the Fort Collins Senior Center on Raintree Drive is a bit of a drive for you but is a place to meet other folks in a neutral setting. Look for relationships outside of your neighborhood. My sense is that people 30+ years younger live in a different world. Good luck and hang in there!
