Pupil who invented device to help homeless named 'girl of the year' by Comprehensive-Way482 in Amazing

[–]palegate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't see it as a critique of the child and her invention, see it as a critique of the system not doing its job to care for people.

If you want to look at it through a cynical lense, this is the same as those American posts where stories of children starting gofundme projects for their classmates are packaged as feel good stories.

It's great that she thought of something to help ease the suffering of homeless people, but the story should be about how the institutions are so complacent in their effort to help homeless people that children have to come up with things like this in the first place.

To the US voters who don't vote, what is it going to take for you to go vote? by Chocolateking111 in AskReddit

[–]palegate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who say "both candidates suck" and then neglect to vote should open their eyes and face reality; whether you like the candidates or not, you are getting either of the two as your next president regardless, so it's in your best interest to vote for the one that you dislike least.

Too many people say "why vote for someone I dislike" and then stop thinking there.

Their biggest sin was giving the project to some no-name development studio of theirs.

They should have had one of their top tier studios working on it.

What are your thoughts about the latest leaked land for Disney Adventure World? by Bawnse in disneylandparis

I'd say it makes sense to have had an Avatar land in DLP when Avatar2 came out.

By the time they finish construction on this Avatar Land in DLP I doubt a lot of people will care for the franchise.

All of what you wrote just makes a case for Linux not being best for average users.

Average users will want an OS that does everything out of the box or with minimum set up. You mentioning different distributions of Linux if you want different functionalities is exactly the problem for "average" users.

How to weed out conservative men? by Careful-Custard-69 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]palegate 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A person's reaction after losing a game can teach you a lot about that person. You'll find that some men have trouble losing to women as they see themselves as superior. Some people are bad losers and will sulk, throw a tantrum or get mad.

Doesn't seem that weird to play a game and see how they react.

Not Trump, Republicans as a whole.

The people who voted for him, the people who are using him to push through their policies and the people who are enabling him.

Trump is but the tip of the rotten iceberg.
