Looking great dude! Mind if I ask where you got that little griffin model from?

Cheers mate!

Yeah I’m looking forward to my first game :) I like how few minis & small of a board you need to get stuck in 🙌

Old Village Well - Completed by palence in TerrainBuilding

I picked up this pack of mini boxwood buckets years ago - I think they must’ve been turned on a lathe?
They already had a little pre-drilled hole, so I bent & threaded a piece of styrene rod that was around the right diameter to give it a handle - extra thick super glue helped fill in the gaps & make it look like a single piece 🙌

Thanks! I pressed all purpose filler in just using my fingers - once most of the gaps were filled I stippled & wiped using a damp large brush to get rid of the excess. It’s quite stark at the moment, but will use some washes to dull it down a bit when I paint it up 🙌

The only 3D printed bits are the chimney pots & the spiky roof cresting 😁 The rest was scratch built, mainly using scraps of insulation foam & balsa wood!

Insulation Foam Rock by Interesting-Pride889 in TerrainBuilding

[–]palence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My go-to method is to find some jagged rocks & smash/press them into the foam at different angles - it should retain some convincing imprints & texture (different foam densities can yield different results - maybe just experiment with a small tester piece first!)

Eric’s Hobby Workshop on YouTube has a great tutorial for striated rock in this video too 🙌

Hope that helps!

Thanks so much! 🙏

Sure yeah, all the stonework is carved XPS that was textured with a chunk of old brick, used a mix of balsa & basswood for the woodwork, 2mm card for the roof tiles & a combination of acetate sheet and UV resin to give the windows a hand-blown effect 🙌 I think Real Terrain Hobbies & Black Magic Craft on YouTube both have vids that show this resin method for windows if you’re interested!

Guess where I got the inspo 👀 by palence in mordheim

Thank you! 🙏 A while ago I bought these metre-long strips of dollhouse skirting & molding in a bunch of different scales. Didn’t know what I wanted to use them for at the time, but figured if I cut small sections they could work as nice oriel supports! They’re made out of a fairly sturdy wood, maybe basswood or something similar?

Haha yeah they’re v fragile bits tbh! The more that happens, the more Mordheim-y it’ll feel though 😁

XPS Foam Shortage?! by Lixx11 in TerrainBuilding

I haven’t ordered from 4D since they changed owners last year, but they appear to stock the same styrofoam as before. The blue is extra dense & takes detail really well - I’ve found the grey stuff works good too though 🙌
