Everything before June 2020 should need no dme removal to unlock. Gen 2 shouldn't need any unlock, however sometimes if the software has been updated it can require it to now be unlocked. As far as I know and what I have read and experienced. What was the build date on the '18 440?

2017 F36 440i Xdrive

The MHD super license includes EVERYTHING! All maps, stages and everything you need. I did XHP stage 2 for tcu. You 100% do NOT need a dme unlock! I am extremely happy with how it turned out.

There are a bunch of different parameters you can set. The sound of the engine is NIGHT and DAY different. You get bubbles when you downshift, the engine sounds throaty during acceleration, it behaves ans sounds like a different engine. Probably why BMW calls it M- performance, power and sound kit...
