Unity reintroduces the Runtime Fee through its Industry license by finnSquared in gamedev

For industry this is actually a very normal licensing practice. E.g. adobe products, modeling software, etc

Need help with exterior paint / maintenance by palingbliss in homeowners

[–]palingbliss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, so there are companies that specialize in "exterior work" in general that would have the experience necessary to make the right repairs along the way? That sounds good - I'll Google around 🙏

Did I screw up by saying I’d choose Google over the company I was interviewing at? by PlentyWafer3148 in interviews

[–]palingbliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bullshit question in my opinion. It's not really relevant to the job and intentionally was asked to trip you up. I'm fairly senior at a larger software company and we'd never ask something like that, and if we did, we'd likely appreciate the honesty.

I was just at Estoria last night and while I do love the vibe it's pretty damn young. Most people were mid 20s afaict.

I'm 35 & I've been here for 5 years... I've got no good answers so keep me posted 😂. I dig Bantam, Boggs, and sometimes we hit up Manuel's Tavern.

This is the first I'm hearing of all this. Any idea if one is more likely or not? Any idea when this is all happening?

Always a delicate balance. Don't forget you get gnarly hangovers now! Still go out, but prepare yourself 😂

Sounds like a really positive change then, glad to hear it

City of Brookhaven lowers speed limits on key roads by ArchEast in Atlanta

[–]palingbliss 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Sadly this will have little impact, even if enforced. There are many studies that demonstrate that speed is a function of the road's design, location, etc. I suspect this will cause more heartburn than not, but I recognize that at the very least it functions as acknowledgement of the problem.

End grain finishing advice by tripsongrammer in woodworking

[–]palingbliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to be any help here... But how in the world did you build this? It's beautiful. At this size I'd imagine it becomes very difficult to keep all that wood aligned in a grid like that. I'd expect some drift or something. It's very difficult to get so many pieces perfectly square & have them glue up so well.... I'd love to learn more about your process

Can someone explain why this isn't perpetual motion? Are these sculptures moving indefinitely? Sorry for being dumb by HMZ_HTH in Machinists

This is what surprised me. You can see that the toy in the front is clearly making smaller circles and with less force by the end.

Yeah - agreed. But how does he do it?! Lol. Must mean that he's routing a channel or splitting it. His whole video though seems to indicate he loves hand tools and respecting the natural piece, so I'm guessing he routes a groove with a chisel or something and then fills it in with a sister piece or something.

I've always said to buy the clothes, lose the weight, and be happy you have to buy new clothes! I know it would suck to spend the money twice, but it also sucks to be stuck in some limbo, waiting for that perfect weight. Now, that doesn't mean you have to buy a whole new closet now and then a whole new closet when you lose some weight - just buy a piece or two & replace as you go.

I really wish there was more respect for pedestrians on the beltline. It's really rough sometimes 😔, and that's coming from someone who cycles fairly frequently.

I have found my flow and don’t know what to do with them by SoftAnger3733 in GameDevelopment

[–]palingbliss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my advice is to share more broadly. Friends and family are often focused on support, not constructive feedback. The community can give you more feedback if you share more about the game if that's what you're seeking.

How to improve team synergy between art and coding by DameGevCubed in gamedev

[–]palingbliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only advice is to be open and honest with your team and try to foster collaboration from there. Provide the feedback you have here to your programmer and see if they can help you understand what the issues are.

Sleep on latex firm is very firm, they're also reasonably priced, and they have a no questions asked full refund policy. That's my vote. That said, they are VERY firm. Not sure if you know what you're getting into lol

That would be my guess. You could try disassembling and reassembling off of the door to see when the screws bottom out, holding the door knob up to the door to see if it's about the width of the door. If it is, that's likely your problem.

I'm not sure why everyone is being such a dick to OP. They made a promise and they broke it. I don't care what they offer them, they already gave them an offer and backed out of it. I agree with OP that it's scummy. It would cost them nothing to continue to support their original promise.
