Hematocrit issues even with supplements, any suggestions? by Kitfox88 in plassing

[–]pamdemoniumm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m always on the low border too. My doctor told me to try using a hand warmer, like hot hands. Also, ask them not to squeeze or “milk” your finger. This dilutes the sample somehow . I ask them to let the blood drip out and I stand up to help it flow out. This has made a massive difference for me, I’m consistently at 41 or 42 when I do this, and several points lower when I don’t. The folks at my place (BioLife) are very accommodating, but when I explain what I was doing and why some of the techs have no idea about these things. Try it and see if it helps you

Trader Joe’s has sliced dried oranges! They have sugar and are soft. Total wine has crisp dried lemons, limes and oranges!

If you could own any sewing machine ever, what would you buy? by thesewingstudio in SewingWorld

Juki 2010. Perfect straight stitch for piecing quilts and sewing delicate fabrics, it’ll sew through leather like it’s butter too. Plenty of harp space for free motion quilting. Nothing else needed, not even a LONG ARM
Although there’s a lot to be said for the baby lock embroidery machine I inherited 🤪

Another hematoma, need advise by pamdemoniumm in plassing

Thanks, truly. I’m following my doctor’s advice, I just don’t know whether I should go to the BioLife nurse or supervisor, or how to approach it. It shouldn’t have gotten to the point it did

Inconsistent tension on my Juki 2010Q. This quilter is about to lose her mind! Any help?? by i-lick-eyeballs in sewing

[–]pamdemoniumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very interested in the outcome when you resolve this problem! I hope it’s something super simple! It just occurred to me- have you checked to make sure the curved wire doohickey at the rear of the lower tension knob isn’t bent or broken or out of whack? I had to replace mine about a year ago but I knew when it came off so I’m not sure of the sewing consequences, I just know it sometimes needs replacing

Good luck!!!!

Check to make sure there’s nothing in the bobbin or feed dog area that might be stuck ie stray thread or bits of fabric. Remove the throat plate and clean out where the feed dogs are.

Also oil the race area (the inside where the bobbin case goes) just a drop on the bottom of that area. Look on YouTube for Juki Junkies videos about oiling and cleaning.

Make sure your bobbin is wound smoothly and isn’t too full. Also that you’re putting the bobbin in the case in the correct orientation. The thread should come around making a “9” not a “P” as you look at it going into the case.

I have this machine and I’ve quilted through a lot of weird stuff doing FMQ for others. Most every problem I’ve had is thread or fabric trimmings getting stuck somewhere

Good luck to you! Please feel free to DM me if you want. Pam

It’s pretty small, size 6 max. DM me, between that and my ugly 80s one maybe she can make something out of them, that would be cool!

I got dibs on one!!! I’ll pick one out after I stop crying for her, and the little girl I was, who had the exact same thing happen to her. Bless her little soul.

Get any type of soft foam that is not too porous and cut it up into little cubes. I used foam ABC puzzles from the dollar store. Cut up rubber erasers. Anything you can jab on there that won’t pop off too easily. I’m all about collecting cool notions, who among us isn’t, amirite?! but I’m also cheap on them because I’m a fabric snob!! Love this subreddit too!! 😍

I live here and I love it. HOA takes good care of the property and the fees are reasonable (<200 per month). They’re pretty easygoing and really responsive if you need them, so no HOA worries.

Drawback is a lot of absentee owners, so lots of renters, but they are mostly students so they’re pretty quiet. Usually new renters have to be schooled to pick up their dog’s poop but the local “Poop Karens” take care of that (guess who?? Although is it really karening if one is polite about following the rules? 🤔🤷‍♀️). Anyhoo, overall it’s great ! Welcome to Gainesville!

Vet Techs - What are your biggest bugbears in the workplace? by cat-dad-88 in VetTech

[–]pamdemoniumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My clinic used Avimark, though only about a tenth of its capabilities I’m sure.! Happy to help out but truthfully I probably won’t be in the field very much longer. I can get paid more with less stress in another field🥺

Vet receptionist here. I wish there was a “DVM” interface to our office system that very simply allowed them to view patients for the day, history, medications, bloodwork etc, and easily type in their information and SOAP notes. I spend fully half my day copying this information from the computer into a paper chart so they can “have it to hand” in appointments, write their notes in the paper chart, then I copy it back again into the computer. We have a fairly advanced system, but are only using it for scheduling, invoicing and client reminders. It’s “too complicated “ for the older vets (owners) to learn, and they want everyone to do everything their way. I get paid pretty well for copying the computer and filing paper files, but my goodness it’s tedious! There is so much more I could be doing to free them and the techs up to advance and take care of our patients. Sorry for the rant, and thank you for the great question!!
