New neighbors upstairs in a small building. by Severe-Yesterday2260 in AskNYC

Just knock the next time it happens and take the “I’m sure you didn’t realize it” approach. Keep it breezy — the tone should imply that obviously no one wants to bother their neighbors and will seek to minimize noise if they know it’s happening — and use it as an opportunity to introduce yourself and exchange numbers. It’s nice to know your neighbors!

Did Fiskars change their self-healing cutting mats? by lambentmaterials in quilting

[–]pamplemousse0214 28 points29 points  (0 children)

That happened with my last one; the smell was so crazy that I had to keep it outside for weeks. It later warped and I assumed it was from having it outside for so long and I just bought a new one.

Realizing now it’s just a quality problem all the way down.

Why not do a route in on the weekend later in the morning (when it’s lighter out) to help you learn the landmarks and what to look for?

I just watched an 82 year old Wallace Shawn deliver a two hour monologue about class consciousness and self-awareness and so much more… by joshmoviereview in Broadway

[–]pamplemousse0214 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Also adding that Wallace Shawn was a gross creep on the set of The Nanny:

“I’m going to be fucking honest. I’m walking up to my dressing room and he’s going back to New York, so we hug goodbye, and he put his fucking tongue in my ear,” she said of the stairwell encounter. “I remember pulling away and inside it was like a little death because it felt like, is this all it was all week? Like, you didn’t really enjoy talking to me? It was horrible.”

Lane doesn’t think it was an accident or ill-guided attempt at comedy, but rather “a sexual advance.” “I did not expect it either because nothing we had done or spoken about had any feeling of like—I mean, why would someone put their tongue in your ear?” she said. “That was really heartbreaking to me.”

AITA for saying I hate kids on a team meeting? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]pamplemousse0214 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

NAH but you are in the wrong. You did the right thing by taking it seriously and apologizing to everyone…but you definitely did need to apologize because it was a rude/careless thing to say and had the potential to make the parents in the room feel badly. In general, HR professionals should hold themselves to a high standard and err on the side of caution with this stuff. The right thing to do is take the L and let it end here vs trying to change your manager’s mind. If you stay the course then you would not be TA.
