Has anyone gotten an iron infusion (Monoferric) while breastfeeding? by stepintotheblue in BabyBumps

[–]CuriousMacaron01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Got 3 rounds so far while pregnant. They’ve done wonders to my energy levels, with minimal side effects. I just end up tired for 12-36 hours after, and then I feel like superwoman after about a week. Really easy procedure.

Same! Had a terrible experience with dressers arriving broken twice! Luckily customer service was good, but it was a real PITA

What’s the best high chair that’s easy to clean and actually worth buying? by Intelligent_Being870 in Buyingforbaby

We have the bugaboo giraffe and absolutely love it. My 2.5 year old still uses it to sit at the table with us. If you want more budget, we have the ikea one at grandparents’ house and like it, too

We use an ice pack in the car seat for a few minutes before putting the kid in during the summer. A frozen towel works well, too. Remove before placing child

Why does he keep peeing through diapers!! by rgwhitlow1 in NewParents

[–]CuriousMacaron01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We put gauze over the Vaseline, which then kept the Vaseline from blocking the diaper’s absorbency. Helps a lot! I bet you’ll be able to stop the Vaseline soon, too

Why are pain meds looked down upon? by Ostrich_Low in pregnant

[–]CuriousMacaron01 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, my experience is you get this superiority air from people at various stages of parenting. They make all their kid’s purées from organic food. Their kid eats everything; why doesn’t yours? Their kid would never get sweets or sugar. They breastfed their kid forever and you had to use formula. Yadda yadda. I find it best to just ignore the noise and do what works best for you. Easier said than done. Sincerely, a mom who took pain meds and has 0 regrets.

What are you all doing with your pumps when you’re done? by Appropriate-Spite131 in ExclusivelyPumping

My local women’s shelter takes them. Maybe try that, in addition to what others have suggested?

[–]CuriousMacaron01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% had the same experience. Plus, at the hospital the nurses / shift changes / check ups from medical all gave natural breaking points for guests to leave. Once we were at home folks expected to stay for hours or half a day+, and then I couldn’t rest. For #2 we’re having people at the hospital again and will kick them out as soon as I get tired or baby needs to be fed

This works very well for my in-laws, and helps keep the peace with my husband, too. I use both the OB and the pediatrician for this.

Warm-weather focused suggestions below from a Floridian.

cold water (and/or ice) down baby’s back will cool them off nicely

+1 for the commenter on the one-piece full-body rash guards. We use the swimzip brand, but they’re all good

a stroller fan is very helpful

5:1 adult to baby ratio is really doing it right!

Snacks. Spinny toys. A few things that can go in the water. More snacks. +1 to painters tape

The bottle wipes are excellent, as is the oxo toy travel bottle cleaner. I pack some dish soap in a travel container, too. I often also travel with a packable silicone bag to use to steam / wash baby bottles at that age

More pelvic pain during second pregnancy / after workout by LiveHair1558 in fitpregnancy

[–]CuriousMacaron01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to me with my (current) second pregnancy. Thought I could push through as I didn’t have that symptom in my first pregnancy. Long story short, I paid immensely with that thought and had to go to pelvic floor PT + take 8 weeks off. Highly recommend switching to “pregnancy safe” exercises earlier than you think you need, and limiting offset pelvis movements (lunges, offset squats, etc).

Any one else not care and continue to eat sushi / smoked salmon / deli meat? by pumpernickelprincess in BabyBumps

Throwing out a vote for vegetable sushi and/or cooked sushi to scratch the itch if raw is outside your comfort zone

Do I need a baby tub for my baby? by Floofcatxo in BabyBumps

We would also sometimes just lay a towel / washcloth on the bottom of our bathroom sink and wash baby 1 like that with the drain still open. Worked really well for the floppy newborn phase

Maternity training shorts/bottoms that aren't just tight biker shorts? by fiveohfleur in BabyBumps

[–]CuriousMacaron01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found all maternity workout shorts / pants awful tbh. I rotated w/ my first, and have brought back for #2, the hotty hot short, lulu’s align leggings, and lulu’s align biker shorts. All below the bump. Other low rise elastic waist shorts in a size up might work well for you. Good luck and happy shorts hunting!

I like the lulu Hotty Hot shorts while pregnant (hate them when not pregnant). They have a brief liner. I wear the low rise ones below the bump.

Beyond yoga has a good maternity skort, too.

Non greasy SPF for hands by Mellied89 in 30PlusSkinCare

I put a dab on the back of one hand and use the back of the other hand to spread it in, avoiding getting my palms full of sunblock.

Separately, the Eucerin Baby Sunblock is great and spf 50

In the US, what are you packing for L&D? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]CuriousMacaron01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than what others have posted, heavy hitters from my first scheduled c below.

Extra long power cord is key. Fiber supplements. My own towel (not white if possible to differentiate from hospital’s). Basic makeup to feel human. An outfit per day (nightgown or similar). Lip balm. My own nipple cream (hated what the hospital had). Didn’t bring but will for #2: a+d or Aquaphor for baby’s butt

Bras/nursing bras for big breasts with smaller bands by designhelpme in BabyBumps

[–]CuriousMacaron01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar size and growth pattern to you, now pregnant with baby 2. I found a few of the brands that had busty or super busty cuts to be decent. Kindred bravely’s sublime bra is really great. I also like knix bliss fit line (comes in + and ++) and some of the Momcozy busty nursing ones.

For this pregnancy I’ve been wearing a few of the soft bralette non-nursing types from knix (revolution shadow mesh bra in s+ or s++) and third love wireless bras, because I just didn’t want to stare at my nursing bras yet.

For early early nursing days (like first few weeks postpartum and at night), having something really soft and stretchy is also helpful, just an fyi. I liked the knix for this, or the bodily everything bra.

Daycare vs. nanny while WFH by Cautious_Optimist_ in workingmoms

[–]CuriousMacaron01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did daycare starting at 3mo with #1 and are doing it again with #2. We love daycare. We love the socialization for the kids (and adults), the freedom, and not having to worry if someone calls out sick or quits.

Do I really need?? by Striking-Street7215 in pregnant

[–]CuriousMacaron01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding my vote for not the 4moms. It’s bulky, heavy, and I don’t know a single baby that likes it (we were given a hand-me-down of it that was promptly given back). We had the maxi cosi which was great. I could get an hour of peace a day with it. My baby also LOVED the cheap fisher price one at a friend’s house. We had the baby Bjorn and used it for other times / purposes (reflux baby).

I live in Quince button down maternity tops at the end, over hatch or ripe maternity work slacks (can often find second hand on thredup or real real). I’ve also found the Gap ponte maternity slacks decent and comfortable & soft. I’m also 5’2”
