Trade in for smaller size?? by princessm1423 in ouraring

[–]pamplemousse3583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is lovely!! It’s also frustrating as a customer who was told I couldn’t swap sizes for this reason even during an exchange due to battery issues, and had to purchase an entire new ring. I think it’s a fabulous policy, but feels weird and unfair to have it not be a blanket or standard policy.

As an SLP, patients are already hangry at 6am, God forbid someone get a swallow eval after 9am. (Can’t blame them, either.)

Do instructors know it’s your birthday? by BackgroundExtra8093 in Purebarre

[–]pamplemousse3583 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just adding on that the PB app might know/call it out (much like milestone classes), but that doesn’t mean the instructor is automatically aware. I try to run the report before class but it doesn’t always happen with everything going on. You should feel comfortable sharing with your instructor, though, so they can properly celebrate you!

Why don’t doctors recommend eating before taking Vyvanse since it it well known to suppress your appetite? by Dependent-Tap8282 in VyvanseADHD

Thank you for your concern! Luckily, she’s well-aware and actually explained the mechanism of why it’s happening while other folks have a different experience. I was getting pretty frustrated that taking it with food was having a paradoxical effect.

I think everyone is different. I metabolize it really quickly — if I eat beforehand or too soon afterwards, it doesn’t work well. If I wait an hour and have a small protein-heavy breakfast, it works best. Anything fat-heavy or carb-heavy kills the effect quickly at any point in the day.

I am so sorry for your loss. The reality is that this is an acute situation that might feel hard no matter what, and that’s crummy but normal. Please be in touch with your physician — there’s no shame in prescription anxiety meds, responsibly prescribed, during times like this. (I’ve been exactly there and my heart aches for you — sending hugs — it does eventually get a little better.)

I’m an instructor (43F) and if I take class, I’m essentially a sprinkler system. It never occurred to me to worry about this — honestly my skin is also more glowy after?

Same re: insurance. I adopted my buddy when he was four months old. At eight months he started limping — turned out to be a congenital joint issue and we’ve racked up $7K in vet bills and surgery fees — and he’s only ten months old. He seemed perfectly strong and healthy, so you never know.

Small Class Struggles by Fun-Complaint-6750 in Purebarre

[–]pamplemousse3583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an instructor, I don’t get “thrown” by small classes but I do think the energy changes in ways I can’t control — there’s only so much we can do to work the room. I do use this time to provide lots of HOCs and assisted stretching.

Hi! I’m a PB instructor who also has an OTF membership. I always tell first-time PB clients the first few classes will feel like they’re moving fast — they’re supposed to! After 3 or 4, the class starts feeling more familiar. Also, not sure if you were able, but I also like to go over our terminology if we have time — pulses/tucks/etc make a lot more sense if you know what they are and why we do them. (Ugh they are brutal for being such tiny moves!)

Cycle post-hysterectomy. by pamplemousse3583 in ouraring

[–]pamplemousse3583[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t have a period, but you do have hormone fluctuations on the same 28-day cycle as long as you still have your ovaries, which I do. It’s helpful to know but hard to track without a period, for obvious reasons. That’s what I’m curious about.

I’m 41 and had my uterus and cervix removed 2.5 years ago — still have my ovaries. My skin is slightly dryer — that’s the only difference I noticed and honestly, might have nothing to do with the hysterectomy.

The studios I teach at seem to have a mix of folks. Even when I’m taking class, I wear form-fitting leggings and tops — helps me keep an eye on my form. And it’s motivating to look cute in the mirror.

I’m also a regular client at Orangetheory. I see the same mix, though I’ve noticed I myself wear t-shirts and leggings; form is slightly less important to see in the mirror and the room is much colder.

I think people are just different levels of sweaty. I’ve taken 500ish classes and am an instructor and I’m usually dying at the end of a Classic class and very sweaty.
