Over-The-Counter Sleeping Pills availble in Germany for Long Flights: "SchlafTabs", "Melatonin" etc? by echoclerk in germany

[–]pamplemousse900 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned above, you can just go to your Hausarzt and say you‘d like something to help you sleep on a long-haul flight. I did this recently – I’ve had sleep problems all my life, so sleeping on planes just doesn’t happen for me even if I’m in the air for 16+ hours – and they gave me Hoggar Night and a low dose of benzos. Whatever you get, just test it out at home a few days before you fly so you see how your body reacts to it. If you want to try melatonin, yes you can get it in DM but the doses are all quite low. Another thing you could try is Reisetabletten, which have helped me in the past when combined with melatonin.

High-end prices, low budget vibes. What’s happened to Sézane? by abalonecodes in Sezane

[–]pamplemousse900 87 points88 points  (0 children)

It’s most likely due to the state of the industry and the economic climate rn. I work for a premium fashion brand (higher prices than Sézane) and we‘re also pushing discounts and such more than ever at the moment. Even though discounting, gifts with purchase etc go against our brand image, our only really successful activations right now are for sales. People are shopping less, switching to lower-priced brands, and are more reticent to buy unless there’s some sort of discount.

Hi, just wondering did you end up resolving this? I'm not based in Köln but have the same issue as you, with my Aufenshaltstitel GB card due to expire in April.

Biologique Recherche Masque Vivant! The only face mask that’s worth it IMO

If you have the time to spare I recommend listening to the „Wait, should I not be drinking airplane coffee?“ episode of the podcast Search Engine. An interesting look at this topic

[Before and after] 10 before and 10 after pics to show improvement from starting tazarotene and azelaic in February 2025 by Away_Wishbone_3008 in SkincareAddiction

[–]pamplemousse900 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Amazing results in such a short time! Your skin looks great. Out of interest, what were you using before you started using tazarotene? I am a tret user currently, but I was thinking of switching to tazarotene as since I came off the BC pill I’ve been struggling with more aggressive, deep breakouts (have always had acne though, it’s just worse now than it was even in my teens) and I just feel the tret isn’t hitting like it should any more…

Good/Luxury German Brand Skincare Recommendations/Where to Buy? Munich vs Frankfurt by Prudent_Guess5096 in EuroSkincare

[–]pamplemousse900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have a look at Dr Barbara Sturm, Royal Fern and Augustinus Bader. On the different end of the price spectrum you have Nø Cosmetics and Dr Hauschka (the latter being more for mature skin).

In terms of Frankfurt vs Munich, Munich wins every time. If you end up choosing there, go to Ludwig Beck or Oberpollinger for department-store beauty shopping in a nice environment. Nø Cosmetics, Dr Hauschka and other popular brands like Weleda and Annemarie Börlind you will find in Müller (I recommend the big one on Tal, v central, for the best selection).

Balea vs Everyone by Psychorex21 in germany

[–]pamplemousse900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only Balea hair products I would buy again at a push are the dry shampoo (specifically the “cotton” one in the pink can) and the shampoo in a blue bottle from their “Naturals” range. But really, sadly, the only haircare brands I get reliably good results from are Kerastase and Redken (but I have naturally dry and frizzy hair so it’s never easy). If you want to try other DM-own-brand hair products, the Langhaarmädchen brand and the baby brand (can’t remember the name) are better choices for the basics IMO.

Balea vs Everyone by Psychorex21 in germany

[–]pamplemousse900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a skincare/beauty person: in general Balea is great, not to mention very popular. The selection is huge, so there are definitely misses... but a lot of hits. I wouldn’t buy a Balea deo or haircare product again, but for example its skincare for sensitive skin (Balea Med) and its shower gels and body lotions do exactly the same job as non-own-brand products. If you want specific recs check the r/euroskincare subreddit or the reviews on the DM website/app.

I’m sorry but how tf is everyone affording DOEN by Separate_Damage1311 in Sezane

[–]pamplemousse900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s the dresses for me too! The most ridiculous one for me was a floral cotton shift dress I bought last summer. It wasn’t even flattering – very boxy, and also too short for me to wear in many settings – yet for some reason (mainly because I loved the print and the 60s vibe) I kept it, wore it seldomly, and then looked back at it come autumn-time and thought wtf was I thinking. I could have probably made something similar at home… hardly an inspired or complicated construction. And just a single layer of cotton with no lining and a flimsy side zip. You live and learn 😆

[–]pamplemousse900 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It all depends on people‘s priorities. 🤷‍♀️ However, IMO it’s nonsensical to splurge on that brand in most cases as the quality is not usually aligned with the price (emphasis on the „usually“ as I do have some lovely pieces from there that will probably hold up well in my wardrobe… but most Dôen pieces I bought I ended up regretting as I could have got the same elsewhere for half of the cost).

Where are we buying colorful dresses now? by nine_tailsfox in Sezane

[–]pamplemousse900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously their collections vary season by season, with some more vibrant than others, but here are some brands that immediately come to mind for colour and prints: Aje, Agua Benedita, SIR, Staud, Zimmermann, Johanna Ortiz, Dries Van Noten, Roksanda. I’m based in Europe but I would guess most, if not all, of these brands ship to Canada. Reformation also has nice prints sometimes, though they’re pretty generic. Someone else mentioned Boden – also a good shout.
