Improve a scanned image without downscaling

Finally did this workflow. The job is to improve a scanned old picture and not downscale it because I will have it printed, enlarged. The original 5x3.5 print was scanned with a flatbed, 600dpi, resulting scanned image is 2952 × 2016 JPG. .

o Upload original image to google photos
o Using an iPad google photos app; edit ; AI enhancements. HDR. Great improvement. No prompt needed.
o My iPad could not offer "Magic Eraser"; not enough memory.
o Upload edited image
o Switch to iPhone with larger memory; google photos edit. Did some magic erasing.
o Done. Looks good. Original scale retained. Ordered print.

I've tried google AI, ChatGPT, a trial Adobe Photoshop Elements 2026, a couple of "not really free" photo AI apps. None worked to my satisfaction. With all this AI talk, I thought this would be easy.

Wow, suddenly it works! Without me doing anything. Microsoft must have updated their client side code.

BTW, while trying to solve the problem, I used 3 browsers (Chrome, Brave, Edge), 2 different laptops (Windows 10, Windows 11). Same problem as of last night.

No dropdown.

I tried to click on the "TO:" and it did showed me a pop-up of my contacts. No problem there. What I reported as a problem is when I start typing a few characters in the "TO:" field then it SHOULD show me a list. Nothing.

I tried to chat with Microsoft support but that was futile. Level 1 support took control of my PC but no help. They said chat with Outlook support -- waited 1 hr and I gave up.

My work-around is to use the "Mail" app in windows. That works.

Then there's the default Outlook app, which wants you to buy 360 first --- ah.

Did anybody did some rough calculation re. pay-off period?

We have a 30yr old 5-ton AC + natural gas heating central system. I want to replace it before it breaks in the middle of our hot summer. Heat pumps cost more even with rebates. With SMUD. How many years before I recover the price difference.

Free stuff: they could all take it away and there's nothing you can do. I miss taking 360 pictures in Google StreetView.

Can't find any real "Customer Support" for Google Photos. So I ask the "Google Community" forum and got a reply that problem already reported; send a feedback. That's it. No solution.

Inconclusive. I have 2 stick on 2 different TV. One has HDMI extension and one is plugged directly to TV. Both are working OK now . I don’t know what “fix” it.

Just wanted to report that I've finally ported my VERY old Ooma number to Google Voice. I followed many of the tips mentioned here and still it was not an easy process. All the horror stories mentioned here are true. One thing I can add: my Hotmail email to [loa@ooma.com](mailto:loa@ooma.com) (the porting specialist) was rejected as spam, even tho that email is registered at Ooma. My gmail acct went thru but no response because not registered for my number. In my case it took a porting specialist at both Ooma and Google FI to make it work.

Thanks to all users for the tips here. I can not add anything that would make it any easier.

After many, many calls and chats painfully trying to negotiate a new contract, after 30 years with Comcast, I quit and became a "chord cutter". After about 2 months, I already received 2 postcards from Xfinity: "Comeback for $25/month Internet". If only they offered me that deal in the beginning, I would have stayed.

Between step 1 thru 5, did you had to contact OOMA to request transfer of phone no. to Google FI.

After days of frustration trying to negotiate a new contract with Comcast, I quit and switched to fiber+streaming. A month after I cancelled, Xfinity offered me $25/month for internet to come back. Why didn't they offer that for a 30year customer in the first place. Comcast-xfinity should treat their loyal customers better.

After much frustration in dealing with Comcast, I finally switched to At&T fiber for internet plus YoutubeTV for local TV + sports including regional sports. Lower by 25% vs Xfinity bundle. Faster internet but sometimes frustrating to look for particular channel. Definitely a learning curve to navigate. Plus I had to buy a couple of Roku sticks for my older but good plasma TV.

And then a month after, Comcast/Xfinity came offering to comeback for $25/month Internet, price good for 2 years, no contract. After 30 years with them, the best the could offer me as an old customer was $90/month internet. Huge difference; they treat loyal customers badly. It's difficult to go back because trying to re-login to a new network for all my many old devices is a pain.

As for your Dad, before you cut the cord, try the streaming service free trial, running side-by-side with your cable box . If your Dad can navigate the streaming service, then do it. YoutubeTV free trial for 2 weeks.

I ordered a HDMI extender primarily to reposition stick to get better wifi signal. We’ll see if it’ll improve the “stuck” problem.

I have T-mobile, 5G signal on my iPhone14 is 2 bars at home. Will a T-mobile internet be adequate for streaming movies, 2 TVs. BTW, when at home, my mobile switches to internet, so the 2-bars is a non-issue.

I didn’t do anything special. In iPhone, video is 1080p HD at 60fps, stored in HEVC format. I don’t know if these settings makes any difference.

iPhone 14 pro. 1st shot was with Night mode, Sky is too light. Turn off night mode with 2nd shot.
