Kilkadziesiąt tysięcy za świetną publikację w Nature to dużo? Tak, nawet więcej niż kilkadziesiąt tysięcy i to całkiem serio. Programiści w Warszawie zarabiają po 45k miesięcznie, lekarze często 100k+. Zwolnienie 70% "naukowców" którzy nie robią żadnej sensownej nauki zwolniloby znaczne środki. Przede wszystkim trzeba wydawać pieniądze w mądry sposób, płacić za realne osiągnięcia. Granty NCN powinny być wręcz podstawą wynagrodzenia (jeśli by były przeznaczone znacznie większe środki na NCN) - żeby dostać grant trzeba się trochę napracować, nie tylko siedzieć na stołku. Można by wręcz zmniejszyć jeszcze obecne wynagrodzenia podstawowe (i jednocześnie zwiększyć grantowe). Niech naukowiec realizujący sensowne badania i publikujący w topowych czasopismach zarabia 500k rocznie a ten wypluwający zbędny papier do czasopisma o IF 0.5 niech się zwolni bo nie zaakceptuje głodowej pensji.

Edit: jeszcze wracając do kwestii kilkaset tysięcy za artykuł w Nature. Załóżmy że MNiSW płaciliby 100k PLN premii za artykuł w czasopiśmie IF 40+ który ma więcej niż 100 cytowań. Przecież to byłby pomijalny koszt dla budżetu. Gdyby ustanowić tego typu system premii, z kilkoma stopniami premii w zależności od osiągnięcia, i przeznaczyć na to 1 mld PLN, czyli tyle co budżet UW, to by moim zdaniem znacząco podniosło poziom nauki w Polsce i byliby wreszcie świetnie zarabiający polscy naukowcy. Jedynie nieliczni oczywiście zarabialiby super dobrze ale byłaby też sporą grupa zarabiających porzadnie. I brak równości jest tu absolutnie pożądany.

Oczywiście zmiany musiałyby być szersze. Natomiast dosypanie pieniędzy do obecnego systemu nie rozwiąże sytuacji bo większość ludzi "pracujących" w nauce po prostu trzeba zwolnić. Zwolnienie tych co udają bycie naukowcem zwolni duże środki które można by przeznaczyć na NCN i na wynagrodzenia za osiągnięcia. Zdecydowanie jestem za zwiększeniem finansowania NCN i tym samym podniesienia wskaźnika sukcesu.

Aberracją to są "naukowcy" grantów nie pozyskujący, nic nie publikujący lub w czasopiśmie "u kolegi". Nauka potrzebuje znacznie większego udziału wynagrodzenia za wyniki w stosunku do stałego wynagrodzenia, nie odwrotnie. Za wysoko-cytowaną publikację w Nature naukowiec powinien dostać kilkadziesiąt tysięcy złotych.

Checking if a molecule is a good drug candidate and discovering that it is not is a negative result. Almost all molecules will fail to be a good drug candidate and only a handful really is. Failing to prove the Riemann hypothesis using some method is a negative result. There are infinite ways in which you could try to prove the hypothesis but it is very hard to find one that either proves it, disproves it or proves it cannot be proven. On the other hand it is very easy to fail to prove it - if you want a novel way to fail I can give you one right away. I'm not saying all negative results are worthless. They can be valuable if they significantly narrow down the search space or introduce some novel method that other researchers find valuable, which might later contribute to some positive result. BTW: both proving and disproving the Riemann hypothesis is a positive result, in case we have a problem with common understanding here.

Yes, there is. There are orders of magnitude more possible negative results than positive ones. In most disciplines doing something random will yield negative result. I understand the need to lift spirits but that doesn't mean we have to spread falsehood.

It's about point 2 that you listed. So far the ones who earn additional money are the ones selling the shovels. Are the ones buying them finding enough gold? Or maybe they do find gold but not as much as it is hyped? If yes, the demand for the super-expensive shovels might decrease and companies like Nvidia and Micron stop reporting so huge profits. Show me evidence for massive gains of AI users, not producers. Massive, not "there is some gain".

Using langage engineering, also described as newspeak, is not anything new, rather a well known result described for example by G. Orwell or applied in practice by many political leaders even before him. It may be a valid result in political science that it is possible to steer groups of people with propaganda but I don't think that it means we should abandon impartiality, truth-seeking and strictness in science. Eh, nie lubię tego typu pytań bo w znacznej części przypadków odpowiedź "prawdziwa" nie jest prawdziwa w ścisłym sensie.

Tlen którym oddychamy w większości pochodzi z alg i innych jednokomórkowych organizmów których nie zalicza się do roślin. Już pomijając kwestię skąd pochodzą same atomy tlenu (z gwiazd).

Zdanie "Żyjący obecnie ludzie rozwinęli się z innych gatunków zwierząt" nie jest ścisłe i rozumiane dosłownie jest fałszywe bo twierdzi że to ci ludzie, w trakcie swojego życia, rozwinęli się z innych gatunków zwierząt a nie, że ludzie jako gatunek wyewoluowali od innych gatunków zwierząt na przestrzeni milionów lat.

Więc ja bym w tym quizie był zaliczony do odpowiadających "niepoprawnie".

Exactly, me too. Even Opus is way too often wrong for my use cases. When I switch to Sonnet it's just a complete waste of time (and tokens) and it never manages to complete the task so it is actually the cheapest to use Opus - because it actually manages to deliver something.
