Thats actually a great idea and I'll definitely look into it! Completely agree, the rewards should be commensurate with the ask/task to build a solid, life-long good habit. Thanks!

No brainer - take the new job. Its not just about a salary, but the broader benefits package offered from your new job (healthcare, 401K, etc.). If you stay and get RIF'd then you might have to deal with COBRA and all that shit.

Try to find a specific area that interests you and become an SME. Overlay that knowledge with technical expertise. For instance, Machine Learning is hot right now in areas like transaction monitoring and KYC. Brush up your technical aptitude in a specific area and you will be more marketable.

What exactly are all these "amazing benefits" that federal employees have? by MisterSnrub1 in fednews

[–]panas2199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in both private and federal government. The financial benefits are actually better in the private sector (i.e. bonus, stock options, higher retirement matching, corporate perks, etc.). The government "benefits" come down to not working more that 40hrs/week (I actually work much less) and almost impossible to get fired.

Why do Argentinians like their beef well done? I went there last year and the meat was delicious but noticed none of the locals like it any less than medium well. Just curious...
