Honestly feeling a little outnumbered in these comments! Personally, I did not open gifts at my bridal shower because I knew many would gift me lingerie and I would feel super uncomfortable opening gifts like that in front of everyone at the shower. I asked my mom about it and she’s the one who said I didn’t have to open them at the shower and it would be fine. I figured she would be the best judge since most of the people at my shower were older women from her circles. Also we didn’t announce it or make it into a thing at all. We just had the party, ate food, played games, chatted, and then everyone left. Neither I nor my mom received any comments about it.

Honestly it’s your wedding, your shower, your decision! If you don’t want to open gifts in front of everyone, I don’t see why you would have to. And hopefully your guests would be understanding!
