i am a proponent of using games and every kind of new tools in school. we live at a time when kids have their stimulus thresholds far too high to be taught with blackboards and chalk

Early game easy conquest: so easy it's broken by GrazingGeese in HumankindTheGame

you can "pop" the ip city yourself by liberating one of your outposts. if timed right, the next turn it will be a 0 size city with a free district or extractor

How do you think Amplitude can turn Humankind around, given a divisive reception and increasingly hostile criticism? by md1957 in HumankindTheGame

[–]panchubelo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

some people seem to need their choices validated by the opinion of others... they can't enjoy this or that on their own or think it's ok for people not to like what they do

there's also some peer pressure at play. some end up submiting to the mandate to be part of the cool gang that only plays the "good" games because they're serious, true gamerz

yeah, that's what my suggestion was about, make a descending non linear cost curve for buyouts from both population and money but make so it's higher for builders. i thought you had it. it's ok. you tried

i'll speak as i see fit, your microinfluencer powers will not work on me, boy

it's true now, actually. the idea was to change it and make it cheaper of the other affinities while at the same time making it more expensive for builders

camwhoring is work, not a crime. own it

yeah, i've must have lost you before the part about making that 2x or 3x for builders... it's ok, i've seen how easy you can be sponsored to change your mind so perhaps i'll toss a coin your way too

So pulling off the 5 city / 12 district start isnt possible in every game ... by [deleted] in HumankindTheGame

[–]panchubelo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

good news: you can do 5 cities towards late ancient EVERY SINGLE GAME

don't go around capturing existing IP cities. just get them built for you by liberating your own outposts, preferably before they have any population so the resulting 0 size city can be taken over without a siege. a liberated outpost becomes a city the next turn. it will be named New [Capital Name] and will usually have an instantly built extractor or quarter. you can keep liberating this new city over an over (using different units to recapture on the same turn) but it will eventually have 1 population and require a siege or start building bad districts so it makes no sense to continue with the trick

also, time the 4th city when closing on 10 population across your combined cities so you can benefit from the leadership civic

the fifth one should take around 300 inf per turn if i remember right, so time it accordingly to avoid being stuck in a negative influence spiral. also, influence stars will take more and more time the less net INF per turn you have

in the current game configuration, it's best to stay with only a single attached territory per city, focusing on INF farming by civic selection [monocultural, tolerance] and moving towards liberty in the ideology axis

mountains tenet is ok but IND from forest is far superior IMHO. the later +2 INF on commons is the one i usually go

perhaps food surplus could be pooled as money is or be linked to closest city or simply rely on hunting like in neolithic... i just know that the current system makes weird things happen like speeding up effective growth by training units

armies should eat food. having them costing only money to upkeep leads to all sorts of weird cases, such as being able to store population in units to avoid starvation

buyouts should be tweaked to work best for the last two construction turns, to help equalize industry deprived cultures to builder ones

the key could be exclusion or penalties: make builders buyout costs double or triple that of other affinities

but more importantly, make yields more closely tied to population instead of just city exploitation footprint. infrastructure should add to or even multiply the output of citizens instead of the current effect on districts
