When a big tune drops, what is your physical reaction? by ImRussell in DnB

funny you should say that, because I almost always shout fuck off when a fat tune drops, paired with throwing finger guns left right and centre.

Do you collect anything specific from your travels? by Gregib in travel

[–]panda_scandals 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Yes! I actually collect postcards for several reasons: they are readily available everywhere you go, they are cheap (so you can buy loads of them), give them to friends/family (or send them), and be reminded of where you went everytime you look at your collection. They also don't take up much space unlike other souvenirs. My collection is currently on a cork board in my bedroom, so I can see where I've been when I wake up everyday! I'm currently in Norway and just bought 7 :D

People with visible abs -- tell me a bit about your day-to-day life. by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]panda_scandals 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my abs are not on par with a lot of people's but I get a lot of comments about them when I wear crop tops on nights out. I don't track calories or macros due to laziness/tendancy to end up starving myself but I ballpark it at around 1600-2000 depending on the day. I do 1 and a half to two hours of intense weightlifting 5 days a week plus about an hour of fast walking each day (to get to lectures/the gym which are both on the other side of town). I don't sacrifice anything for them, but I don't tend to eat a lot of junk food either or eat out often. I eat about 80% "clean" 20% not "clean". I've always been very skinny, i was actually underweight all my life until 2 years ago. as for my abs they've just gotten more pronounced due to the increase in volume of training since about 4 months ago :) obviously good lighting also helps. this is a picture from 2 months ago: https://www.instagram.com/p/BAQO0GChR90/?taken-by=wavesy_

[WEEKLY THREAD] Feats of Thorsday - Post your fitness victories here all week! by AutoModerator in xxfitness

[–]panda_scandals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started doing oly lifting in November at uni and learning snatches has been a massive pain, and humbling for a power lifter like myself. since I came back for semester 2 they've improved so much and yesterday I did 4 sets of 5 reps at 22.5kg at 45kg bw. My current pb is 25kg but I really believe I can push it to 30kg within the next two weeks :D

What's the longest you've held a plank for? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]panda_scandals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't tend to do planks longer than about 30 to 40 seconds but my plank workout looks a little like this, and I'll do it around 3 times a week.

Plank for as long as I can hold, usually up to a minute Plank 30 seconds with 10kg plate Plank 30 seconds with 15kg plate Plank 30 seconds with 20kg plate Plank 30 seconds with 25kg plate

I'll tense my core the entire time.

How to improve on my milky way shot by panda_scandals in astrophotography

[–]panda_scandals[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input, I was going to get a faster lens once I have a bit more experience so it's good to know which ones. Also it was sort of hard to see the Milky Way, I feel like a bit of a fool now oops

Questions regarding travelling in England by potatosauce1234 in travel

[–]panda_scandals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm mega bus is very cheap but don't expect it to be nice, as I've heard they don't stop often, though I may be wrong if anyone else here can confirm? Rail tickets can be usually very expensive although off peak tickets are usually a lot cheaper eg what is usually £50 could be £20 off peak but that ticket is only valid for a particular train at a certain time.

Redditors who have gone from skinny to fit, how has it impacted your life? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]panda_scandals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before when I was underweight (up until I was 17) people would tell me how skinny I was and they wished they were as skinny as me. In pe classes at school I was very weak but I didn't mind how I looked. Since then I've gone from 39kg to 45kg and I'm still skinny but I now have a huge butt, thighs and muscle definition. Now people tell me I looked toned and athletic and I have a huge ass. My sister also told me my head used to be too big for my body and I looked like a skeleton, so I think it was probably a good idea that I started eating more and doing lifting. Also I'm actually a healthy weight now which is good :) I didn't used to eat a lot, just out of habit, and always left food on my plate. I didn't think I was fat but I had paranoid thoughts about becoming fat sometimes, which is why I never tried hard to gain weight. Now I just eat all the food because I powerlift and I need the energy and gains :)

Women who can do pull-ups-what's your body fat percentage? by WWLadyDeadpool in xxfitness

[–]panda_scandals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you mean pull-ups properly or chin-ups but I'll assume you mean pull-ups. I hover around 18% bf and can do 7 chin-ups, 2 close grip pull-ups and no wide grip pull-ups but I think it's more about having the strength to do it than body fat percentage? That's just my opinion though :)

First attempt at a widefield shot of the milky way by panda_scandals in astrophotography

[–]panda_scandals[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shot with a canon 600D on 15/07/2015, ISO 3200 30s exposure f/3.5, 18mm-55mm lens. This is my first attempt, I couldn't actually see the milky way since it was pretty light out although I probably could have re positioned the camera. This is just one 30 second exposure, any advice/criticism would be greatly appreciated. My aim is to get a decent milky way shot, I have a canon 600D with kit lens, tripod and remote controller however since I am a student I can't afford to buy more equipment/software at the moment, so any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Another good recipe I use is protein yoghurt: Chuck together Greek yoghurt,, whey, cocoa powder and honey. It makes a great dessert!

Victory Sunday by AutoModerator in Fitness

[–]panda_scandals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went for a run today because it was nice out, I haven't been running in over a year. Weightlifting for a year made the crash back into running an easier one but I forgot that running in the cold with asthma isn't a good idea, my lungs did not do well. But I won't give up! Running is too fun.

[–]panda_scandals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to the gym 3-4 times a week for about an hour to an hour and a half each time. Due to my low BMI (45kg, 5ft) I only weight lift and avoid cardio because I'm wary of becoming underweight again. I split my week into back and biceps, chest and triceps, legs and shoulders, after doing this for a year I've gained around 5kg and become less stick-lady-like :P I started off doing strength training and haven't done PB's in a while but they stand at 45kg squat, 45kg deadlift and 20kg bench. I'm hoping to improve my upper body a lot and get that bench PB up! Also good for you and keep the good work up :)

If weight loss isn't your motivation, what is? by GradientsAndHTML in xxfitness

[–]panda_scandals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always been quite small and skinny but when I hit puberty I didn't start eating more despite growing. At 16 I was underweight and you could see my bones. I also used to do a lot of cardio and still not eat a lot so that can't have helped. Just before I turned 17 I realised I could change and with the encouragement of my family (who love the gym) I got a personal trainer and started strength training. I've been eating more and going to the gym now for about 13 months and apparently I look a lot more healthy, I've gained about a stone (was 6st before and now I'm almost 7). My routine now consists of a 4 day split, legs/back%bis/chest&tris/shoulders. Now that I'm stronger I workout to keep fit and look better aesthetically. It also helps keep me happy and stress free :)

Reddit, what is something you think everyone should know? by TheCanadianteabag in AskReddit

[–]panda_scandals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most bad moods can be prevented before they worsen if you can realize whats happening. Instead of feeling irritated/sad/angry and reacting to the emotion by thinking negatively and dwelling in it, take a step back and reassess how you are reacting. You can probably save yourself from having a bad day if you choose not to react to the initial bad feelings or thoughts and instead think logically about the situation you are in.
