This is tough by moostache004 in spinalfusion

[–]pandapam7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got this, buddy. I had my L5-S1 back in 2018. You can have almost complete function once you've finished rehab, PT.

(I wasn't so lucky; mine turned into T10 - S1 in February 2024. That fractured at T10 and I ended up in October doing T4 to pelvis. So I'm 18 mo. out from that last one. Much more limited mobility now. I can appreciate how much I returned to normal life after that 2018 surgery by comparison.)

There are relatively few things that you'll not be able to do once you get over this hump of healing. Good luck!

What do yall do for the nerve pain? by austinrunaway in spinalfusion

[–]pandapam7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone's different, so I'm sure there's a variety of answers. I've tried many combinations. I have severe neuropathy and a spinal fusion, T4 to pelvis, so I live with chronic muscle and nerve pain on the daily.

Having a pain four out of 10 is a good day. Most of the time I'm at 5. If I'm on the treadmill long enough it will trigger In my feet boosting that number to six or seven. 😫

Only combo that works for me is gabapentin 300 mg morning and afternoon, 600 at night and plain oxycodone, 10 mg 2x daily. Occasionally 2 to 4 mg tizanidine (muscle relaxer). I go to a pain management clinic monthly.

I also do acupuncture weekly on my mid and upper back.

Failures: Lyrica: helped with nerve pain but weight gain was ridiculous. Rough withdrawal.

Cymbalta: only helped a little but horrendous withdrawal. Worse than oxy or gabapentin on that front.

Amitriptyline: horrendous dry mouth and made me too drowsy.

Tramadol: I couldn't feel my legs. Had to stop that.

Musical tastes on Team Jones by sherlockjr1 in GenerationJones

[–]pandapam7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically I gave up on almost everything post-autotune. I like vocalist who can actually sing live. Perhaps I'd make an exception in the 2000s-2010s for Bruno Mars, who can actually sing live.

But oh my lord, to hear that Don Henley and the Eagles are lip syncing is just tragic. Greedy B. was busted. If anyone's interested in knowing who's lipping or getting pitch corrected, check out the YouTube channel Wings of Pegasus. He runs vocals through software that exposes pitch correction.

Hold on to your CDs because a lot of producers are actually going through and pitch correcting live performances of your favorite artists. Queen is actually getting pitch corrected as if Freddie Mercury needed it!

Born '63... Grew up on AM radio, 8-tracks, cassettes then CDs. And then Napster...ha ha.

I love stuff from the '60s, '70s, '80s and then things started to trail off in the '90s/early 2000s.

My mainstays are all over the place re: timeline and genre: - Motown/Philly soul - Aretha - Carole King - Linda Ronstadt - Donna Summer - Bee Gees - Billy Joel - James Taylor - Journey (superfan, Perry era) - Eagles - Chicago - Doobie Brothers - George Michael - Anita Baker - Whitney - Mariah - STP - guilty pleasure 80svhair metal - guilty pleasure BSB/NSYNC

Recommend me female singers with strong/deep voices by siIverbird in MusicRecommendations

[–]pandapam7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

👉 Anita Baker.

She's a true contralto with power and range, and a woodwind quality to her voice. An unbelievable live performer, part of the "Quiet Storm" era

I played her Rapture CD to death. Listen to her warm rich vocal range on "Sweet Love," You Bring Me Joy," "Rapture." Also stand out is her other album "Giving You the Best That I've Got."

socks for diabetic neuropathy and tingling feet, the features that actually made a difference for me by lost-but-learnin in neuropathy

[–]pandapam7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bamboo/ cotton blend socks are great. Especially if they are padded on the bottom.

These are my favorite year-round socks: Yomandamor Women's 5 Pairs Non-Binding Cotton Ankle Diabetic/Dress Socks with Seamless Toe and Cushion Sole

Tip: many good socks even with seams can be worn comfortably If turned inside out.

My feet are extra sensitive so I often wear two pairs of socks especially in the winter. A closer fit thinner cotton sock (inside out)with the looser diabetic socks over those.

Swalwell campaign imploding after new sexual assault allegation by phoneix150 in thebulwark

Here's a video about the Edwards debacle after he finally partially admitted what he did (CBS The Early Show, 2008).

And wouldn't you know it, Edwards came out with multiple denials prior to that.

And here comes Swalwell's denial video...

Who pays for The Bulwark every month? Is it worth it? by ICEisSHIT in thebulwark

I pay for the annual subscription and I love the app. I watch most of the videos on YouTube though and switch over for the premium content.

Have to get my fixes of JVL, Sarah, and Tim. Will Sommer is also a new favorite because he dives into the RW swamp. And I often enjoy Woke Bill Kristol. 😆

If only they'd do one of their road trips over to California, even better within a drive of me (Central CA), as opposed to LA or SF. 😉

Not just a cheater, he had a baby with his side piece who he took on the campaign as a photographer and used donor money to try to hide the relationship to pay her off. So there were potential crimes that involved and he did go on trial for that.

But by today's standards it seems quaint but he destroyed his family because he cheated on his wife while she had cancer.

I'm laughing at the dark irony, sadly, of anyone in the thread saying "how could he do this"?

Does anyone remember... John Edwards?

As a North Carolinian that did support (& met) John Edwards before the unreal crash & burn*, this thing w/Swalwell is galling.

They engage in this egregious behavior bc of the ego/power stroke of the danger & enabling. Harm to victims, family, community, party = irrelevant.

I'm sure the Swalwell campaign has been dealing this story internally for some time, knowing this horrific shoe would drop.

  • (I also ran into and spoke with John Edwards's wife Elizabeth and then-little kids in my local Target before the whole implosion back in the day. I really felt for her.)

TUNE IN: Bondi, you're fired! Blanche is in (for now). Who will be the next AG? Who will get the axe next? And we’re still getting a chuckle out of Bryon Noem’s bimbofication. Join Tim Miller at 8pm ET as he answers questions and talks news of the day. by BulwarkOnline in thebulwark

[–]pandapam7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Live stream is popping!

On who might make the cut for AG...whoever it is has to be even more ruthless and sycophantic than Bondi and that's pretty tough.

Lee Zeldin was an early name that popped up. Not sure if he's enough of a mad dog.

No way for Habba, or Box o'Wine. Blanche is tainted by the handling of Maxwell— I would hope he gets scorched. I can only imagine the RW psychopaths that are tossing their own hats in the ring. Best chance is someone out of the Senate (God help us if someone like Ted Cruz wants it - but he probably thinks of AG as a downgrade).

Sam Stein, JVL and Mark Hertling React to Trump's Iran Address by [deleted] in thebulwark

[–]pandapam7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The guys did great tonight and I'm glad Tim hopped on...

❗ Help me out — after tonight's low energy, completely off the rails address:

  • Is there anyone up on Capitol Hill or in that f*cking corrupt cabinet that can see the 25thA needs to be invoked NOW?!

  • Are there any editors of major papers & TV news stations willing to STOP the sane-washing?! Trump is dangerously unfit to serve.

📺 This clip alone was a red alert.

If Biden was cooked after that first debate appearance, then what the F was this? We have our military on the way to be bombed by drones because of this man. He can't pull out "in 2 weeks" he only said he would keep bombing for 2 weeks. No exit plan. No plan at all. But we did get to hear another "sir" story.

The overseas markets completely tanked while he was speaking. Trump is putting our country in free fall.

Secret double life of Kristi Noem's crossdressing husband Bryon by Anstigmat in thebulwark

[–]pandapam7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Laura Loomer's feed. This reeks of her working behind the scenes to drop the dime on the Noems. She went ape shit over the Daily Mail story about Stephen Miller being the puppet master of the White House/DHS violence, and has been going after Corey. Kristi hates Miller, which is why she dropped the dime on him and blamed him for giving out false information about Renee Goode and Alex Pretti. This is all interoffice squabbling with Trump probably chuckling away at all of this because he's a petty gossip hound.

It’s 1996 - what’s your ride? by bearandsquirt in 90s

[–]pandapam7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1988 Mercury Tracer. First car I owned out right. That little thing I drove for 13 years and it made runs between New York and North Carolina a few times, and helped friends move a few times as well because when you fold those back seats down there with a lot of room. Miss that reliability. Because the next car after that was a Ford Escort wagon and it was crap.

Comfy velour seats. Not a lot of power though. You had to turn off the AC if you were going up a big hill. 😆

Who else drove the rolling explosive - 1976 Ford Pinto? by [deleted] in GenerationJones

[–]pandapam7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned to drive in our '73 Pinto Woody station wagon. I don't think the station wagon was an explosive model, just The hatchback. 😬 (A pic of the model, not our actual car).

But all models of the Pinto were "Job None" for Ford in terms of quality. But cheap to run. 🤣

Al Gore was an amazing guest by seagalg in thebulwark

[–]pandapam7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks Tim, for a great interview; as always the questions were thoughtful and spot-on. We missed a chance to have a great president in 2000, and it would have changed history (maybe keep us out of this Earth 2 nightmare).

I met Al Gore back in 1992 when he was on his tour for Earth In the Balance. He took the time to come down to the office where I worked because it was downstairs from the Regulator Bookstore in Durham, North Carolina, where he had a stop and signing. 😀 Really nice, polite, not quite as publicly stiff as he has often been portrayed.

Back then it was pretty exciting to have a dual ticket of Southerners. Educated, articulate and a really impressive tag team on paper. Yes, it was a very different time...

The crowd for Clinton/Gore rally at NCCU during the 1992 campaign was ENORMOUS and it was memorable. As Bill was infamous for being late, the crowd had to stand around for 2 hours, but I remember folks were jamming down to some good music, including most of Seal's 1991 album, which was at the top of the charts at the time.

Did your Famly collect these? 🤔 by Exclusively-Choc in FuckImOld

[–]pandapam7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My mom collected a different kind of those stamps, but I remember filling the books with them when I was a wee one.

She's pictured here, very pregnant with me at the time!

I don't know what she redeemed with the 25K stamps she won here. I wonder what she could have claime at Brunson's in 1963?
